Chose this hotel for activities and extra facilities/restaurants. The hotel was booked through Jet2 (lux) so I expected to get my monies worth only having to pay a supplement on the other restaurants. Sea view upgrade requested and paid for. Arrived to be placed in a room with only a partial view of the sea-more pool view. This was promptly refused having paid the extra cash and we were promptly moved to a noisy room with a sea view. Noisy the following day due to being next to a cleaners room with spring loaded doors that slammed shut repeatedly. Moved again finally with the view we asked for (Beatrice thank-you). Extra restaurant with (Jet2) small supplement? Rubbish! Blatant false advertisement. Champs, Asian and Italian will all cost you full price so take this into consideration when making your booking. On a positive note the food in the restaurants is good. If you turn up through a busy serving expect that the chefs will be catching up as you proceed. Not their fault as they are doing their best. The rooms are all nice and modern - just what we wanted. Albeit not the studio I’d hoped for. The poolside bar was confusing. Prices next to food left us wondering if we were allowed to take it given that the drink and coffee had all inclusive written over the top. After 2 days and seeing other all inclusive people take food we just dug in. This needs to be rectified by placing a disclaimer next to the food cost showing free to all inclusive. If you want a good bed in the sun then make sure you get up bright and early to secure that prime site. Most of the beds are taken by 1030hrs. Entertainment was good throughout the day with the activity team albeit Spartan doing their best on a regular occasions. On a night some really good acts most days in the large amphitheater entertainment block. However plan your night as entertainment ends @ 2200hrs. There is no disco here and the place suddenly dies a death. On two evenings we had kids kicking and bouncing a pool ball around in the open areas without parents or staff interceding. Finally if you have the extra cash go Royal. Don’t expect to turn up and upgrade at the hotel. This level gets international (named) drinks and an isolated pool area with their own bar and eating area. I did take the time to contact the hotel 3 weeks prior to arrival via their email portal discussing upgrades only to be replied to the day before we left the hotel saying they would discuss availability on arrival. Needless to say we didn’t get Royal Level or in fact the studio room I was looking for. Oh yes…..if you do go Royal whilst you do get all the extra perks expect that your room view won’t be the best. Whilst you can see the sea you also get a prime view of the local (massive) power plant. In conclusion a hotel probably aimed at families with children on a budget. I would not recommend it for couples unless you had the cash for the Royal upgrade. Ignore some of the 5 bullet reviews here from individuals with only one review. I could see that there was a degree of encouragement and leading by staff to do reviews. Some could be seen to say what to write also. All par for the game but does not give that balanced and clear view that all TripAdvisor readers want and need.

My wife booked our one night stay as a gift. When she booked she chose the Royal level all inclusive and added the early checkin option. Check in went very smoothly apart from the chap on the Royal check in area who didn't really seem to know what he was doing capped off by him giving me a paper discount card for Fund Grube and telling me i needed to put it in the slot inside the room to allow the lights and everything to work. I even questioned this a couple of times but he insisted that's what it was for. Funnily enough it didn't so went back down stairs again he then handed me the plastic card but still insisted the cardboard one should have worked. Taking the mickey out of paying customers is not good business perhaps it was a little game he liked to play with other staff 🤷‍♂️. Our room was 1616 on the sixth floor supposedly a sea view 🤔 I'd say partial as you had to be stood up and to the left of the balcony otherwise you just looked at other rooms. The room itself was lovely big spacious well appointed. We decided to go down to the Royal Level only pool and bar area only to find all sun loungers were either taken or had towels. Clipped on a couple even had just one flip flop on each lounger. We spoke to staff as clearly guests are just reserving lounger early morning then disappearing off. The staff were totally disinterested. We ended up spending most of the day sat on two plastic chairs not quite the Royal experience my wife had paid for. The pool bar was great staff friendly and snacks and drinks all day were really good. The evening meal was very average can't really say much more on that . We went back to our room around 11pm and then spent the next two hours listening to the noise coming up from the foyer bar area as it's just a massive void right up and beyond the doors to the rooms on the Royal level . You could even hear the pool balls being smashed around the table and the loud drunks shouting at 1am. This certainly was no Royal experience for the price we paid . Would we stay again NO

I am here with my wife and granddaughter now. You cannot fault the food or the room. What I do find disgusting is that the hotel and Love Holiday say there is a minibar in the room. I am not after alcohol drinks. The mini bar is empty, there is nothing in the minibar, so it a fridge. I called reception and ask for a bottle of water for a cup of tea and they told me to buy one. What a crock of crap. I paid all inclusive and yet we cannot have a cup of tea in the room. I did go to reception and was told that all inclusive guests can go at midnight, yes midnight to get a bottle of water…… 2 things are not going to happen after this holiday. 1. Never using love holidays again as they are miss selling the holiday. It advertises mini bar, but it’s an empty fridge……. I tried to use their chat service, that was crap too, I went from 3rd in the queue, then 4th and then 2nd and back to 4th. 2. I will never be stopping at the Barcelo Active resort. I have never been on an all inclusive holiday where you cannot get a bottle of water for a cuppa. What also makes this worse is that there was no rep to meet us from the airport and they laid on a coach and after loading out luggage on was told to get off as there was a mini bus coming. The bus driver was useless and aggressive towards the passengers. All in all not a great experience, hence the reasons why we will not be choosing Love Holidays nor the Barcelo again.

“Not 4*”

We booked a sea view but had a view of an industrial plant with sea behind it, food same everyday and Luke warm, hotel definitely not a Luxe Hotel have to pay for towels, safe and water which never had to before in a Luxe, entertainment was appalling too 9 to 9.45 and the worst I’ve seen !!!
