“Great location and decent value for money ”

I previously visited Praia da Rocha nine years ago and decided to return with my parents this year. This was my first time staying at this hotel and we found it to be a great location. Our transfer arrived around midday and while we had been told that our room wouldn't be ready until 3pm, we were pleasantly surprised that it was ready upon our arrival at the hotel. The hotel reception is very clean and spacious and the front desk staff were very friendly. The room itself was perfect although one of the TVs didn't appear to work nor did the kettle. While we have read so many reviews praising the breakfast, and found it to be average for a resort hotel and on a number of occasions, the hot food wasn't very warm. The bar on site is perfect for a relaxing drink away from the hustle and bustle of the strip and it is reasonably priced. However, on one occasion a member of staff approached us and informed us that we hadn't paid for drinks earlier in the day, despite us having paid his colleague and having a receipt for the transaction. On one occasion we decided to order room service and found it to be very reasonably priced. Overall, we would recommend this hotel and would return again.

“Very baby friendly”

We had a lovely time in hotel da rocha! We brought our little 4 month old and it was a very positive experience. Travel cot is excellent quality. We had a lovely time in hotel da rocha! We brought our little 4 month old and it was a very positive experience. Travel cot is excellent quality. Our room was also cleaned to a very high standard daily. We loved the microwave and kettle in the room very necessary with a baby. Breakfast is delicious and a very large selection to choose from. We did find the lifts to be slow and always full as we were on first floor - they were constantly full we had to wait 10-15 mins some days to gain access to a lift. The one in reception to go down to the breakfast was also not working so that was a little disappointing but overall a very positive and lovely stay

The hotel is located a 5 minute walk down from a really lovely beach and right near the strip which is full of bars and restaurants. The hotel is located a 5 minute walk down from a really lovely beach and right near the strip which is full of bars and restaurants. The strip itself felt very touristy, and each day there were a bunch of men who offer you “smoke”. There isn’t much to do in the area itself. We did half-board meaning breakfast and dinner (no drinks) and personally we would recommend just breakfast as the dinners were fairly average and sometimes hit and miss. As a pescatarian there was always something for me to eat but some dishes did not have food tags near them so I wasn’t sure if it was meat or not. The breakfast was great - although the baked beans tended to be crunchy! The swimming pool is much smaller than it appeared on the photos and you only get a few hours of sun by the poolside. There’s also a pool bar but did not actually seem to be open at all when we were there. Also, on one of the windy days one of the massive sun umbrellas came loose and tipped over and the metal pole went completely through one of the sunbeds. The couple that was under that umbrella seemed shaken up and the staff didn’t appear to handle the situation well at all (by giggling and leaving the umbrella for someone else to come and sort out?!). After they put the umbrella back up, they didn’t bother to check the other umbrellas to ensure they were secure and didn’t have anything to tie them close to avoid the wind moving them about. The elevators were very small, took forever to go up and down the floors and are like a sauna! The room cleaning was also inconsistent - one of the days our room was being cleaned before midday and another day we got back to the room at 4pm and it was in the process of being cleaned - so we couldn’t pop in and get changed after being at the beach all day. This was slightly annoying so I’d say use the “do not clean the room” card on the door if you’re planning on popping back during the day for a nap or to get changed etc. Lastly, on our last day we found cockroaches in our room.
