“Lovely little gem”

“Good value for money”

“Quiet apartments, relaxing stay”

We have just returned from a 4 day stay at these apartments with our 4 year old granddaughter. We arrived late morning on Tuesday and we were warmly welcomed by a very friendly Alexandra on reception. Our apartment 202 was ready for us and Alexandra helped us to take our cases up. The apartment was fine, basic and in need of refurbishment but it was clean enough and had a lovely view from the balcony, which was in full sun during the morning. There was a large area outside of the front door which had the sun in the afternoon/evening so we took the chairs from the balcony out one evening to have drinks out there before going for dinner. Our beds were really comfortable too and we all slept really well whilst there. Although all the apartments were occupied,the area was very quiet. It was a short walk to the beach and the quickest way we found was left out of the complex, cross over the road and follow it down and round to the beach. If we went right out of the hotel,although still not too far,there were quite a lot of steps to get down to the beach. The beach is fantastic and is absolutely perfect for kids. Pool was adequate for the amount of apartments there were and our granddaughter enjoyed her time in the shallower side. Plenty of sunbeds around the pool, although no cushions on them. There weren't many parasols and a few of them were broken. There was a bar/restaurant (kanes) attached to the complex but although there was seating for it around the pool, the bar and restaurant wasnt open until 6pm each day (closed all day Thursdays) Not sure if it opens at lunchtime in peak season. Food we had there was really nice and reasonably priced and happy hour (2 for 1 on all drinks) is 6 till 8 each evening. We had a very late flight home on the friday night but unfortunately we couldnt get a late check out as all the rooms were fully booked. Alexandra did everything she could to make our last few hours there easier so a massive shout out to her. She let us leave our cases in the office after reception was closed and provided us with towels so we could shower after we had finished at the beach and pool for the day. Overall we really enjoyed our stay here. However we found that there wasnt an awful lot to do in the area in the evenings to keep a 4 year old entertained and so the 4 days we spent there was enough.

After a week here, we are having an amazing time. Although the apartments are full, it is never crowded by the pool or noisy. Town and beach are easily walkable although the whole area is very hilly. Alexandra, the owner is just lovely and so helpful. The main selling point for us though is the view from our apartment. We were lucky enough to have one with two balconies, one that faces the pool and is always in the sunshine, and one in the shade that faces the beach and sea. It’s spectacular! Having been to Moraira on mainland Spain a couple of years ago, and found everything so expensive, we weren’t sure what we would be able to afford to do in Menorca but buses are very reasonable here. There is a bus to Mahon, and also to Fornells and Es Mercadal. We had an amazing evening in Es Mercadal where there is a weekly (Thursday) night market with bands playing etc and really interesting locally made products for sale. Also worth a walk from Arenal was over to the adjacent tiny fishing village. My two kids had an amazing time climbing the rocks and looking in all the rock pools. There’s also a diving board set up to go into the sea there but we weren’t quite brave enough to give that a go! All in all we are in love with Menorca and have managed so much on a very tight budget. The apartments would be spectacular with a bit of updating but then they would become too popular and expensive so I’d rather have them just the way they are. The only thing that would be nice would be if the bar below opened for a bit longer and had a bit more life in the evenings eg. ran some events like the other bars in town.

On 23 January 2020, the new Balearic Law against Tourism Excesses entered into force, which prohibits all-inclusive deals with unlimited alcoholic beverages. Only a maximum of three alcoholic beverages per guest will be served during lunch and/or dinner.
