We stayed at a hotel for a week as part of a group. It’s in a great position on top of the cliffs (as long as you don’t mind a steep climb up from the sea), with lovely views along the coast from almost all rooms. The harbour and Agaete village are within walking distance, subject to the inclines. As well as the hotel swimming pool, at the bottom of the path down from the hotel, there is a series of natural seawater pools which many guests enjoyed. Our room was large and very comfortable, with a balcony. There was a wide variety of buffet food at both breakfast and dinner in the restaurant, generally of high quality. We also liked the spacious open air rooftop bar. The only weakness comes in staffing. While staff were generally friendly and helpful, there weren’t enough of them, with queues at the rooftop bar, and long waits for wine service in the restaurant. One waitress in the dining room was obviously punting for tips, but on our last night, there was a mix-up over the table booking, so at first there was nowhere for our group to sit.

“Hotel with good service and nice view to relax after hectic days in the city.”

Excellent location of this hotel ensured that you’ll get spectacular view over the ocean. Walking distance to the natural swimming pools with sea water, but they also have swimming pool in the hotel. 15 minutes walking to the port and restaurants and bars.

If this review was for the room and the staff I'd have given it 5 stars. All very professional and well looked after. My reason for only 4 stars I would not go so far as to say deception but, some wording has to be clarified. In all descriptions of the hotel it says Fitness centre and Wellness centre like it's different places. This is in fact one place and it'll cost 20 euros per 90 mins if you want to use these combined facilities (I don't know if all inclusive bookings get some deal). We used the wellness centre three times during our stay. The other thing to note is if you are expecting a guaranteed sea view then be aware that Occidental Negra has an annex to the main building. These are room numbers in the 500s, 600s and 700s. Our impression was that if you were in a large group then you were not put in these rooms. Just be aware that the 500s and 600s rooms have a view of the corridor of the main building in front. Taxi from Las Palmas to here was 78 Euros. Do some research on the local hiking routes if you stay here.
