“Top hotel”

Visited with wife and 2 kids (12 and 10). Don’t let any negative reviews put you off. Food decent (kids didn’t complain once). Snack bar was always fully stocked with burgers and hotdogs. Entertainment was good. Plenty of sun loungers Can’t really fault this place.

A lovely hotel. Clean, efficiently run. Lovely food to suit all tastes. Personally I felt accessibility was great. We didn't book an adapted room as my disability didn't require it. I do however use a rollater for my balance so they did make sure our room was ground floor and ramp access which was amazing. All areas of the hotel have ramp access which was great. There is also a swimming pool with ramp access too so I was able to swim confidently with my family. The pool with the ramp goes deep too which is great. So if you have a disability this hotel is amazing

We had read a mixture of reviews leading up to the holiday but on arrival we were greeted by a friendly receptionist who gave us instructions to our room. The room was very clean and everything was in order. There was a good variety of buffet food to suit all tastes (usually some pizza and pasta option for the fussiest of kids) and on the whole the quality was reasonable. Even the wine and lager on tap (self service) was alright. The pools were great for kids, my boys loved the slides in the larger pool but the toddler one was also nice and warm and the little splash pad was fun. The table tennis by the pool proved popular too. There were some kids activities but we didn't really make use of these but other families enjoyed them. Darts contests proved popular as did the almost daily water polo competition with grown ups. As happens in most holiday locations the sun loungers were grabbed early in the morning but usually the odd one could still be found. The hotel app giving information on activities and evening entertainment was great. There is a free bus down to the local beaches (it does a couple of drop offs) or the nearest beach is about a 10min walk down steps. Taxis could be readily found waiting outside the complex if wanting to travel further it cost us approximately 15 euros to get to aqualand and 18 euros for the camel safari in maspalomas. In the evening there was a mini disco for the kids from 8:30 and a show or quiz from 9:30 in the outside area set up for this. Before going I thought this was a little late but we generally didn't leave the pool til 6pm (having got there early/mid afternoon) so by the time we had showered and had dinner this was about right. Our boys liked playing footy and messing about in the play area of an evening and made lots of friends. We met some really lovely families also staying at the abora and this as well as pleasant staff gave the place a really friendly vibe. The lady that cleaned our room daily always said hello and wished the kids a lovely day if she saw us in the corridor. Overall we had a great stay at the abora. We tended to go out after breakfast and back for a late lunch to make most of the all inclusive package but this also gave us a chance to explore some of the activities on the island.
