Our trip to Québec was a redo. We came in Jan ‘22 - 5 days for my hubs bday - we were randomly tested @ the airport & I was + for Covid. 5 days turned into 12 as we weren’t allowed to return to the US until I tested neg. But we nomaded from Montreal to Old Québec, staying in an apartment loft @ the Via Rail Train station, that’s not far from this hotel. We decided to stay here on a whim this time & what an amazing hotel & stay! It’s so chic, pretty, cute & sexy…. All the things! Our room was nice with king bed, big windows overlooking Old Québec, double sinks, stand alone tub & beautiful glass enclosed shower. There are robes, slippers, an iron & board, there’s a super cute, super mini kitchen in a large cabinet - Nespresso, small fridge, I think there was even a little stovetop 😬, & a small sink. There’s a single washer & dryer in the basement that guests can use…. It’s abt $2cad - just have cash on you, otherwise you’ll have to walk a few minutes to a little souvenir/ convenience store. It was just so NICE!!! Anddddd not to mention the absolute best & warmest gas fireplace I’ve ever felt is in lobby with a lovely sitting area. The restaurant is small, but super cute & has a huge window overlooking Old Québec. The only downside is there is no room svc, but there’s a good menu & their little continental type breakfast was just different from the US & soooo good! It’s walking distance to several boutique shops, souvi shops & restaurants!! La Buchette is a few minutes walk & was an amazing lunch, a super cute place & great svc. They can valet park your car, but there’s literally an overnight, enclosed parking deck right nxt to the hotel that’s cheaper. They also gifted us 2 pairs of super cute duck socks upon check out!! We’ve never recv’d a gift like that from a hotel & even before the gift, it was already 1 of hour favorite hotel stays! Book it, you’ll LOVE IT!!! 😊

“Overall Good Stay with Room for Improvement”

We stayed from April 25 to April 27 and overall had a good experience, but not quite a great one. The hotel itself is very nice. The location is excellent (close to tons of shops and restaurants) and the property feels well designed and comfortable. Our room was spacious and included a small kitchen and fridge. We booked a panoramic view room and the views of the city did not disappoint - tons of natural light as well. The only minor issue in the room was the curtains. They were all manual and in some spots hard to reach, which made opening and closing them more of a hassle than it should have been. Service is where things felt a bit inconsistent. None of the issues were major on their own, but they added up. We arrived around 2pm, which is before check in, so no problem that the room was not ready. The front desk told us they would call when it was ready, so we left to explore the city. By 5pm we still had not heard anything, even though official check in is at 4pm. We headed back around 5:30pm and were told the room had been ready. It seems they simply forgot to call us. Not a huge deal, but a bit frustrating… We were also told our bags would be brought up shortly. After waiting about 15 to 20 minutes with no update, I went downstairs to pick them up myself since we needed to get ready for dinner. Again, small detail, but it contributes to the overall impression. Breakfast service was actually quite good. It was busy, but the staff handled it well and were attentive. The offering itself, which was included with my Hilton Diamond status, was simple but perfectly fine with cold cuts, fruit, pastries, and toast. The “biggest” disappointment came at checkout. We had a very early flight and the night before I asked if they could arrange some kind of a takeaway breakfast. They confirmed they would deliver a breakfast lunchbox to our room at 3:45am. Nothing was delivered. When we went downstairs to check out, I asked about it and they handed us a bag after a short wait. I only realized in the taxi that there was food for one person only, so my wife ate and I had to grab something at the airport. Not a huge issue in isolation, but not what was promised… we were okay if they didn’t offer anything and we could’ve made alternate arrangements, but if they confirmed that they could provide some sort of a breakfast lunchbox, then we would expect it to be delivered and actually match the number of guests in the room… On the morning of checkout, I also reached out by text to ask for help arranging a taxi since Uber availability looked limited. There was no response at the time, and they only replied later that afternoon when we were already back home, which was not helpful. Lastly, a very minor issue as well, read in some of the reviews that guests were offered some small gifts when checking out, etc. We were offered none. Again, not a big issue, but if that’s the hotel’s practice, it should be consistent across the board and not selective. To be fair, the hotel has a lot going for it. The location, the design, and the rooms are all strong positives. But the service felt inconsistent, especially for a property that is part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Aside from the included breakfast, my Diamond status did not seem to make any difference during the stay. Overall, I would rate it 4 out of 5. A good stay, but the small service misses made it feel less polished than expected.
