“Best hotel ever”

Excellent location, the ocean is the best of the world, food, drinks, amenities and service couldn´t be better. every body is friendly, rooms are clean. What we like most is having the ocean front just a couple of meters from the bedroom.

“Beautiful Beach. Decent Food. Hit or Miss Service.”

This resort has a beautiful beach. Well, all beaches in Aruba are beautiful so you can't go wrong with any of the beach resorts. As for the Divi, the food was decent for an all-inclusive. They nice thing is the buffet has a wide variety of options so everyone can find something they like. They have a lot of fresh fruit and juices, which is nice and a good selection of salad items. The chicken noodle soup was actually amazingly fresh and delicious. Our room was just ok. I booked directly on their site, yet we ended up in an old room that was literally the farthest room from the beach so that was disappointing. My sister-in-law booked on their site too (the same type of room) yet somehow ended up with a newer room close to the beach. I suggest you call ahead and see if you can reserve one of the newer rooms. Otherwise, I guess it's just luck of the draw. One thing to note, they don't sell water bottles or have them available for purchase (which is understandable because it's an island and trash is a problem), so you have to drink tap water. The water was decent, but it wasn't super convenient to get water if you were in your room and were thirsty. Obviously, you could drink tap water, but it wasn't cold. So, if you drink water at night, be sure to stop at the bar and get a few cups of water. They also give you water bottles to fill up and there are ice stations around too; it's just something to be aware of ahead of time. The service there was interesting -- the staff members were either great or horrible. Most staff were super friendly and attentive but some (specifically the people who worked at the pizza bar in the lobby) were awful and seemed to hate their job and hate people in general. It seemed like a handful of employees went out of their way to ignore you. When you finally were able to get them to come over so you could place an order, they acted as if they were extremely annoyed by your presence and the fact that they had to work. They also seemed to work at a pace that was slower than a snail. They say people in Aruba work on "island time" but these employees couldn't have worked slower if they tried. One woman who worked there didn't smile or look at guests at all, even when they were flagging her down. However, her friend came up to the bar (it seemed she was a previous employee who worked there) and the staff member who was ignoring guests became a totally different person and was laughing and talking with her friend for 15 minutes straight while paying guests came up right beside the friend and just stood there without being addressed or greeted. Several of the guests stood there for about 5-10 minutes being purposely ignored (even though they were clearly in site of the staff member) and then ended up walking away in frustration. My biggest suggestion to management is to ensure all employees are being trained and assessed regularly because there are some really poor performers who are ruining the experience for guests and making the resort look bad. Start with looking at the employees who work at the pizza bar in the lobby. There are plenty of umbrellas and lawn chairs for the beach and you will need shade because the sun is constantly shining and with the reflection off the white sand and water is very intense. Parts of the grounds are pretty run down and seemed in need of landscaping. The Tamarind side was livelier and has more restaurants, however the beach is not as accessible. I do wish they had some activities and things available for people to do other than shuffleboard. We did play shuffleboard with friends, but it would have been nice to have other activities available onsite (ping pong, pickleball, billiards, etc.). Also, one frustrating thing is that they don't have regular coffee they can serve you in the morning at the breakfast buffet. Getting coffee for yourself is a bit of a hassle because they only have two machines and there were lines and the machines were very slow. They had two coffee/expresso machines that you go to and make your own coffee. While the machine itself has a nice selection (expressos, cappuccinos, etc.), you wait for quite some time behind other people (some of whom are making multiple cups for everyone at their table). One of the two machines was being serviced on one day, so I ended up waiting about 15 minutes in line behind others just to make myself a cup of regular black coffee. If you don't get your coffee before you get your food, by the time you get back to your table with the coffee your food is cold. If you get the coffee before the food, when you get your food, the coffee is cold. I would highly suggest that they allow the servers to just serve regular brewed coffee to guests and keep the machines available for those who want specialty coffees. Bottle line - it's nice. Would I go back? Only after trying out other options. Overall rating based on our experience is a C+.

“Great place with amazing view! If you don’t want much to eat.”

As far as the overall Tamarijn hotel, we had a good experience. I gave the Tamarijn 4 stars because of the beautiful location. The room view and the staff. My biggest complaint was the food or lack of it. The buffet at the Tamarijn is only for breakfast and lunch. If you want dinner buffet you have to shuttle down to the divi. This was so inconvenient. Not to mention the Divi dinner buffet wasn’t as good as the Tamarijn breakfast and lunch buffet. You can book a reservation at other restaurants for night time dinner, but if you are doing excursions it’s hard to book a reservation because you’re not sure what time you will get back or if you will even feel like eating as soon as you get back. Another issue we had was every all inclusive resorts we have gone to stock your refrigerator. Tamarijn does not. No water or anything. You can go to store and purchase drinks on your own but no free items. We were shocked by this. All inclusive evidently doesn’t mean all inclusive fridge. Even just bottled water would have been nice. You can get soft drink at the bar for free, but they are in plastic cups so you can’t bring those to refrigerator. A big plus was they did leave us 2 metal water bottles in our room. They aren’t insulated so not great to carry on excursions or to the beach. But we did fill them with water and put in fridge for midnight refills. They do have ice dispenser and water dispensers all around to fill your big cups from home (make sure you bring one) This is a major plus since bottle water is not available for free. I am a water snob and only drink certain waters but this water was actually very good so another 👍. The only negative I will say about these dispensers, they aren’t together. Before you learn the place, it’s a game to find where the dispensers are located. The water will be in one place but the ice will be in a different area. We had ice right outside our room but had to walk to the lobby for water. No major problem but just a little inconvenient. Our #1 complaint AGAIN, Food is not available 24 hours like most resorts. Restaurants are open at night but for specific times only. Buffets at the Tamarijn closes completely at 3:30. No dinner buffet. Bar food very very bad. Avoid it. No service there until 11am not sure what time they stopped service because we did not go back there to eat again. Again, the resort itself, rooms, beaches, cleanliness, and views, A+. Food is a C (only because French toast and lunch buffet were very good) Otherwise I would have given it a D for availability and the inconvenience of having to shuttle to the Divi resort. We usually eat more buffet than restaurants on vaca because we stay active with excursions and sightseeing. If you’re one that doesn’t leave the resort or like to nibble between Breakfast, lunch, and Dinner, then you will be fine here. For the price we paid, we expected food to be available 24/7.
