Superbreak Theatre Visit
We chose the President Hotel as our London base when booking through Superbreak as it was central to the activities for our son's 18th birthday celebrations (meals out, Covent Garden theatre, etc) It wasn't until I'd paid and received the booking confirmation that I read the small print which entitled us (having booked 2 nights or more) to a free evening meal on our first night! We were already happy with the price we'd paid for the hotel and theatre package, but this was an additional and very welcome sweetener!
We arrived at the hotel early (1pm) and knew that we wouldn't have access to our rooms before 3pm, but when we approached the receptionist to ask if we could leave our luggage until then, she asked for our booking confirmation and proceeded to book us in there and then!! This was a huge bonus for which we were very grateful. Our rooms were great; not the biggest, but exactly what was needed to facilitate a 2 night stay in the Capital. Everything was spotless, and decor was clean and contemporary. Staff were professional, pleasant and efficient, and the complimentary evening meal was another added bonus. We'd booked to see Matilda the Musical on our first night and had worried that we might not have fitted in our meal beforehand, but the hotel was totally geared up for this and even offered a pre-theatre meal, starting at 5.30pm, thus giving ample time to travel to the West End in time for curtain-up. Food was good quality and plentiful; a three course meal which consisted of a carvery as the main event, but there was also fresh salmon steak plus a vegetarian option (it was three bean chilli on this occasion but apparently changes regularly)
Breakfast was also good, served between 7 and 10 on weekdays, and consisted of the usual cereals, fruit and self-service hot buffet. Food was plentiful and hot, and seating was good, assisted by efficient waiting staff.
On leaving the hotel, we were pleased to find that we were able to leave our luggage there for a nominal fee of 50p per bag, and this was a great service, as we were able to participate in further sight-seeing on our last day without dragging bags behind us.
All in all, we were thoroughly impressed by all that the President Hotel offered, and it should be noted that they also have sister-hotels in central London which are of equal quality. In addition to this, the evening meal deal may also be taken at any other of these hotels, making a London break even more flexible.
We have stayed in various hotels in London over the years but, taking into account the cost, proximity to stations and its central location, we think that the President offers superb value, and plan to return very soon. Thoroughly recommended.
