We were a extended family group, 2 parents with 2 teenage daughters (13 & 15) and 2 Grandparents. Facilities and Amenities: Lived up to expectations of a 5 star hotel. Never felt busy - always sunbeds available in various spots from near to music and entertainment through to quiter areas. Great choice of pools and bars. Rooms a great size with balconies, modern fixtures and fittings and maintained to a high standard. Food and Drinks: Stayed half board and the buffet selection for both breakfast and dinner was good with something for every taste. There are stations where food is cooked fresh and as per request for that perfect steak. Loved the themed nights (Seafood, Mexican, Indian, Asian...) and service was always on point. Bars were well stocked and staff were happy to accomodate any cocktail requests even though the standard selection was pretty extensive. Mocktails for the kids, so they don't feel left out, and complimentary crisps and nuts. Entertainment and activities: Evening entertainment space was well laid out with stage and comfortable seating. From magicians to Elton John (tibute) the whole family enjoyed the shows and the Animation team were always on hand after to get the post show dancing going! Free Kayaking on the hotel lake was fun and open everyday, with the Animation team once again providing great support. We didn't do alot else on site but there are 2 towns either side of the hotel with some local restuarants and bars within 5-10 mins walk. If you want to go further afield then there's Siam Park waterpark, well worth a visit if you have kids (get there early and get a fast pass). A short drive away is Mount Teidi, ascended easily by cable car and gives stunning views of the volcanic landscape of the island. The Staff: This is where the hotel excelled. The reception was always well attended and staff always helpful. We appreciated the offer of complimentary drinks and snacks from the fridge upon our late arrival. All of the staff were friendly, attentive and made the stay extra special, to name a few that went above and beyond... - Alejandro - Made cocktails with passion and flair and always made sure you had a full glass in front of you! - Francisco - Another excellent cocktail mixologist, some of the best Mojitos and Old Fashioned I've had in a hotel. - Victor - Such energy (maybe the morning Barraquito), always bringing the holiday vibe whether leading a class on how to prepare a traditional Tenerife coffee, testing us on capital cities for free cocktails or leading the evening entertainment. What a star! - Juice bar staff - upon entering the restaurant for breakfast there is a juice bar, the staff here worked tirelessly blending, mashing and chillng the bottles of juice and I imagine rarely get a shout out so here it is - give them a high five because their juices are pretty good! The Bad: The only minor criticism is the lack of water provided at dinner. It was readily available at breakfast but had to be purchased by the bottle at dinner. We'd definitely go back, although we're not ones to go back to where we've been before but would highly recommend to those looking for a easy going, relaxing vibe with or without kids. The hotel itself is as advertised and we believe offers real value for money with attentive staff, good food and easy access to the rest of the island if you feel the urge to leave the comfort of the sunloungers!

April is an excellent time to come here. Not only is the weather perfect but it's not overly full. We're Royal Level guests and I highly recommend that upgrade. April is an excellent time to come here. Not only is the weather perfect but it's not overly full. We're Royal Level guests and I highly recommend that upgrade. Foodies please note, you're not coming for that ok! Get that into your head and you'll be fine. Took me a few days. This is a relaxed 5 star hotel but they make up for it in other areas. Don't listen to other reviews that say its 4 star. Perhaps for normal guests but not Royal Level. It is 5 star. I brought my son for a pre GCSE exam treat. We're both so very relaxed. Probably the most relaxed I've ever been on a holiday. I usually frequent UAE Abu Dhabi etc so am used to being utterly pampered but you have to remember you're in the canaries and their culture is different. The one gripe I had was waiting for drinks in the entertainment area or pool area. However Kenny at the Royal level pool was exceptional. Staff here are so kind. I'm going to name a few so you know who will look after you. 1. Jonathan in Royal Level gastro - extremely professional 2. Carmen and Hilary - Can't do enough for you 3. Alessandro by the entertainment 4. Sergio at reception, he's new so is eager. But all the reception staff have been lovely. It's very clean here. Rooms done daily. If you use the app you can pretty much report anything missing or that needs topping up like shower gel or towels. I was dreading the whole app booking system but actually it's totally fine. Also plane noise, really not an issue. Especially in April. Forget the beach! It isn't one really. Unless you walk and find a better spot. Ok so Royal Level, here's what to expect. You're given a nice looking wood wristband. You don't need to say you're Royal level, it's noted by your wrist and everything is free other than Arrozante and Dolce Vita BUT I wouldn't bother going there anyway. You get ONE free pass to eat in either so one freebie meal. I did the Italian. Why I did that in Spain ill never know. Honestly, the Royal level restaurant is more than adequate but as I say the food for me personally isn't it's high point. If you're not a fussy foodie, you'll love it. All drinks are free at the Royal level pool area. It doesn't open until 11am so take water down with you if you're an early bird. They DO light snacks that aren't on the menu, take advantage of them. But you have to walk into the bar and chose. Rooms are perfectly fine. Pillows fantastic. We had a choice of 3 daily. Slept like a baby as the beds are extremely comfortable. Better than many hotels I've stayed at. Ok so room service, wow, twelve euros to have cava brought to my room! That's excellent value so I took advantage of that. Remember to tip! You'll get lost a few times. Lots of walking but Royal level guests are right on the front. Lovely views. Reception and the gym and wellness spa are right back but it's better for us as we're nearer the pools and the sea and all restaurants. Don't come here if you're disabled or can't walk. I noted LOADS for kids. Even in Royal Level kids are welcome. There's a kids club and my son spent his time playing basketball or doing the climbing wall. Take advantage of free kayaking. 1pm and 4pm daily. Lovely little thing to do. The only excursion we did was Siam Park, best water park in the world. We had a blast. Wellness centre. Best massage I've had. Apparently I fell asleep and snored. I went for a 75 minute aromatherapy with Carlos I think his name was, my son had a female. Fantastic! Really set us up to relax on this holiday. Washing and ironing is very cheap. No English TV!!! Please note that. I'm not a huge drinker and wanted a night in to watch a movie, that's our thing and we couldn't. I was disappointed so bring your stick from home or tablets to watch movies on for kids. Unless you understand Spanish tv of course! I would absolutely come here again and im fussy. The breeze is perfect so we didn't get too hot. Temperature in April 26 degrees up to 28 one day. Perfect. Pools amazing. Preferred Royal level pool though. Entertainment is also great fun every night. You'll really enjoy it if you take note of what I said re waiting for drinks (tip them then you'll get looked after) food, the walking and the app. Enjoy! It's wonderful here.

This is one of the nicest hotels we've stayed in. We went with family and everyone's needs were met...even the shy teenagers had a great time! There was a superb selection of food in the buffet, with something to suit everyone in our party. The staff went above and beyond, to ensure that everyone had a great holiday. We really couldn't fault the service we received, right down to tiny details. Our rooms were maintained spotlessly as were the facilities generally. Overall the facilities were excellent and it was possible to make requests for additional items. We were particularly impressed to receive an e mail from reception, a day or so into our stay, asking whether there was anything that would make our stay better!. Activity-wise, there is plenty going on if you want to participate but there is no pressure to join in if you prefer not to! Our little group dipped in and out of activities and we enjoyed those we joined. Those that preferred topping up their tan never had difficulty finding sunbeds and a quiet spot. We never felt that any part of the hotel was over-crowded or too busy as the campus is huge! It really is difficult to fault this hotel and staff. They listen to guests and respond immediately, however, we did have one little gripe ....that carafes of water are not available at dinner time. If we wanted water it came in glass bottles at 3.50 euros, which was more expensive than the wine! We did ask the waitress for tap water but she said no. Water was available by carafe at breakfast and lunch so not sure why not at dinner. (We feel confident that the water issue will be resolved so please don't let this put you off going!)

“BARCELO TENERIFE”

Our first visit to a Barcelo hotel and were very impressed. Food, room, staff and general hotel facilities were all of a good standard. Will certainly look at staying at another Barcelo hotel in the future
