We came here for the day hoping to find an actual beach with sand that wasn’t man-made with a seawall, since our resort pelican reef didn’t have that, and we were quite happy with Ramones. In the fact we kind of wish we had stayed here. They have a sandy beach area as well as a seawall (unfortunately you can’t enter the ocean from the beach because they have these PVC pipe looking things to help keep the seaweed away) but still they had a lot more shade and more beach chairs than our resort (tho we weren’t allowed to use them even tho over 20 of them were empty. They really should change this policy. Charge a day fee or allow chair use fo those who eat at the restaurant). They had these soft living room-style chairs up under a Palapa behind the beach chairs, and a really nice dock with swimming off the end and on-site dive shop. The restaurant was large, attractive, comfortable seating, and a more varied reasonably priced menu vs pelican reef. Very nice server who welcomed us despite knowing we weren’t staying there. There’s a gift shop, gourmet coffee, and they’re walkable to: Paradise cream, the dock where the snorkel trips leave, Bluewater Grill, and the chocolate Company. We were very impressed, especially given that Ramone’s isn’t super highly ranked on TA.

“Incredible!!”

Loved everything about our stay at Ramon’s. The location was ideal, the setting was beautiful, food was delicious, amenities and golf carts were convenient and staff were so friendly. Can’t wait to come back!

We fished with Kevin and Roman half day inside the reef. Great experience and awesome guides. Guides were great with our kids and we all caught fish. Well worth the money and trip was perfect length. They picked us up at our dock at 8 am and back by noon. Super fun and great memories

My Dive Travel Experience: Scuba Instructor Diving since 1999 2869 dives 117.5 weeks out of the country for dive travel I have been to Ramon's now three times and although I have a few issues with the resort I would still go back and still enjoy myself each visit. The location on the island is perfect as it is within walking distance to town. but still quiet. The grounds are superb and well manicured with a great island feel. The front desk staff was very fun and service was quick. We had a middle of the road room, but it was nicely decorated and plenty big enough with a small refrigerator and a very comfortable king size bed. My only issues with the rooms was that we were on the bottom floor and could hear every footstep from above. Also, the balcony was tiny and had no outside hanging hooks for wet scuba clothes. The water in the room is drinkable, but that was not explained upon check in. The pool area and beach is super clean and inviting. A great area to hang out between dives or when not diving. If you are in need of consistent WIFI, expect it to kick you off quit often. The beach gets a lot of Sargassum during some months, but the resort has a company working daily to remove it. The food at the restaurant was good to very good. However, my big issue was with the waiters. Some were slow and would forget things often. Getting coffee refills or asking for anything extra was an issue. The coffee in the morning usually was not hot. The waiters don't seem to want to help each other and some get a little snotty if you ask them for help instead of the waiter assigned to you. We did shop around for the waiters we liked the best and avoided the others by picking where we sat. Now for the diving. Unfortunately, the local diving and really all diving I have done in Belize so far (did a liveaboard a few years ago) has been below standard in my opinion. Lets just say it is very sharky, but not much else. Based on the Caribbean rating scale I give it a D+ to C-. That rating is for local, but if you get on an excursion to the outer reefs it does get a slightly better rating. The dive boats were very comfortable, large and not over crowded. They put a five gallon bucket on the boat for cameras, but that only seems to hold a few GoPro's leaving several of us without any bucket for our cameras. Our dive guide was a young local named Jermin. He did a great job and was helpful, courteous and did his best to make sure we had a good time. The other big issue I have is the lack of tubs for cleaning scuba gear and the lack of storage. The resort has two small wash tubs for scuba gear which serviced about 75 divers. The tubs were often in need of cleaning and there was no tub for washing pee filled wetsuits separate from regulators and masks. They had one shower available outside and a hanging rack that would hold about half of the guests wetsuits. The lockers were barely large enough for one person, but we were forced to share. Again, no place on the dock to soak a camera. If you are a photographer don't expect any special accommodations. There is no camera room on this property. Even though the diving is not great, Ramon's Village could do things to make them a more respected dive resort. Start with the attitude of the waiters in the restaurant. Then put larger camera buckets on the boat and cameras tubs on the dock. Add more cleaning tubs and enlarge the outside drying space and finally double the size of the lockers. Consider some of the many extra excursions offered by the resort. We did a few really nice snorkel trips and even got to see a manatee. Also, heard the snorkel/picnic is a must do.
