The Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus Hotel is a beautiful gem, perfect for families. The surroundings are stunning and offer numerous activities tailored for children. The Star Camp program stands out due to the dedication and warmth of the instructors, who make sure the kids feel cared for and entertained. My daughters loved it. Additionally, the oceanfront location is simply breathtaking, making it a place truly worth visiting. In summary, it's an ideal destination for unforgettable family vacations.

“Best beach for soaking in the ocean!!”

This was an extra long weekend trip (5 days) Best part/ highlight for us: The ocean and beach were incredible. Can soak in the ocean for hours!! Snorkelling off shore is great too. Food review: Breakfast buffet - good healthy options Snack bar - loved the poke bowl, and fruit bowl Lunch buffet - Nice stews, grilled veggies, meat/fish Dinner buffet - Visited daily to see the theme nights. Dominican night is underrated - it was amazing. Gala night had good marinated fish. Asian night had sushi and sashimi. A la cartes in order of preference: Steakhouse - Excellent tenderloin with mushrooms. Nice appetizer options served buffet style. Greek / Mediterranean - Nice on the beach. Menu on App only shows the appetizers, but there are also great entrees. Gourmet - French onion soup and fish was good. Lamb was a little disappointing. Lots of grizzle and not a lot of meat. Mexican - Food was pretty good but service and chairs were terrible. Spa: Great massages, mostly from Elisa. Looks like a nice wet area, but we never used. Feedback: Bathrooms need something to dry your hands with - both men’s and women’s rooms. No paper towels or hand dryers were available. Prestige lounge: Arrival was smooth. Attentive service provided by Carlos, Oscar and Maria. Room cards couldn’t be activated right away but that was ok because we hung out in the room and unpacked and ordered room service. Roasted veggies, guacamole and salmon toast were all great. Throughout our stay Carlos and Oscar checked up on us to see how we were. Not so good: Departure was less smooth by Prestige (no fault of any of the staff mentioned above nor were any of them working at the time). There was a mix up with W2M departure and that made our departure rushed and stressful. Our transportation arrived 1 hour early and they called our room wanting us to leave right away. I wasn’t able because I wasn’t ready. We rushed and got out 15 minutes earlier only to wait at the airport longer and the check in desk wasn’t even open for another 45 minutes. No apologies given by the prestige staff at the desk. Not a pleasant farewell, just a look like we disappointed them. Apparently it was a big fail from the folks at the prestige the night before our check out (again non of the staff mentioned above and we never saw them before that night before we left). Please pass along this feedback. Other than that the regular prestige team was amazing and very helpful. We liked it a lot and are planning to return next summer!

“Disappointing revisit.”

We visited and got married at this Iberostar nearly 20 years ago. So when we decided to rebook for a week, I was quite excited to go back, but sadly I am disappointed. It used to be a stunning 5* hotel, now it's probably a good 4*. The staff and the location are fantastic, they really do make the difference. The hotel now has an eco policy so doesn't use plastic, which is good in part. There is a glass bottle in the room to fill up filtered water from a machine I'm the accommodation blocks. But a bit like myself, the resort hasn't aged well over the past 20yrs. The grounds are fantastic and well kept and the beach is stunning, but the rooms are dated and the pool and pool bar are let down by faults. The rooms themselves are dated and have a mismatched furniture. lovely carved hardwood desk and case stand, next to an MDF cabinet for fridge, it's barely even the same colour. Water leaked through the ceiling when the room upstairs took a shower, resulting in the plaster ceiling coming down. Staff just looked, shrugged and swept it away. They did return the following day and attempted to fill it. The pool has lots of loose and broken tiles on the floor, especially by the steps at the pool bar, and some of the underwater lights around the pool are loose. The pool layout has been changed, but it means the filters don't work so the shallow seating areas get full of junk. The pool bar, started serving cans of beer and bottles of coke/sprite as the taps didn't work, and the coke/sprite soft drinks tap always came out flat. You can't flush toilet paper, but there's no signs or notices anywhere or in any toilet. The result is that multiple toilets get blocked throughout the resort. I appreciate they're trying to go "green" but why get rid of the plastic bags in the toilet bins? To put used toilet roll in a bin is disgusting and shows no regard for staff welfare who have to clean it. It's 2024, you can buy biodegradable bags for the bins! Food is good, but food hygiene is dubious. Because the restaurants are all open, birds are always flying around, and they're not scared to land on the buffets and have a feast themselves. Again, the eco thing means they don't use table clothes, which I have no issue with, but when the birds land on tables, leave a rear end gift and fly off, the staff use the same damp cloth to wipe it away as to clean the table with... Its such a disappointment to write this, I was so looking forward to going back here after all these years, but I don't think we'll go back. Sad times. 😢
