We had an amazing stay at this hotel and would highly recommend it! Rooms: Spotlessly clean and well maintained, with housekeeping doing a great job every day and towel art on the bed!. The minibar was restocked every two days, which was a nice added touch. Restaurants: The staff were attentive and friendly throughout. There was a fantastic variety of food available, and everything we tried was delicious. Waitress Jeveny always had a smile for us! Gardens - immaculate and the gardeners worked very hard to keep everything spotless Reception: The reception team were always helpful and welcoming, making everything easy from check-in, booking taxis to departure. Entertainment: The entertainment team really made our stay extra special. They were fun, engaging, and put on great shows and activities — we especially enjoyed the games and exercise classes. A special mention to Tiago Pedro, Mikey, Kevin, Samuel, Amilton, and Darlene, who went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. Overall, a wonderful holiday — we would definitely return!

“Fabulous week in the sun”

Hotel, gardens, dining and beach areas immaculately cleans, rooms big and the service in and around the hotel was excellent, food great no complaints for a chilled week in the sun nothing to do outside the hotel unfortunately

We booked this hotel through TUI after having our trip to Thailand cancelled due to the ongoing troubles. Hadn't really thought of Cape Verde before but had a couple of people say how nice it was. The flight was okay, classed as mid-haul which isn't great as it was over 5 1/2 hours and 6 on the way back. The airport was brilliant though, straight through and then a five minute transfer to our hotel. We chose this hotel because it is adult only and all inclusive and the majority of the reviews were good. We didn't have to wait long in reception and then were directed to our room. Was a little disappointed as the hotel that the guests were dropped off first (next door to Karamboa) were welcomed with a drink. We weren't welcomed with anything which was a real shame especially as it is all inclusive. There are 3 floors, no lifts so be aware. The complex is HUGE! We got lost the first few days but then found a quick way to our room. The reception staff were great on check in. We took our own luggage to our room, although there are porters if you wish. Our room was lovely, spacious with a sofa (bed) two big twin beds pushed together, his & hers sinks, big wardrobe with a safe (free to use), fridge with mini bar and also 4 optics. There is also a kettle and tea/coffee and bottled water. There is a separate shower and toilet. The balcony was a good size with 2 chairs and a table and we had the sun on us all afternoon from about 1.30pm until it set. It was very quiet where we were so we were lucky. The food was delicious and there was so much to choose from. Any kind of meat, fish or vegetarian options available. Lots of salad, fruit, chocolate fountain, cakes, crackers, cheese, honestly you couldn't say there wasn't any choice it was amazing. There are also 3 speciality restauraunts of which we tried two, the Italian (could get all of the food in the main one) and the Asian which was excellent and we went twice (limit per holiday). The pools were big and there was lots of entertainment and joining in if you wanted to do it. We chose not to and stayed near the other pools that were quieter and also went on the beach a couple of times. There are plenty of bars and the drinks were nice especially the Latte and the cocktails. THey have Riu Party on a Friday evening and dress up the main stage area. Everyone got involved and it was good fun. If you don't want to join in you don't have to though. The hotel was being cleaned constantly, our room was kept lovely, although sometimes it was about 2pm before they came. It was my birthday while we were there and they left a lovely card and a bottle of fizz with 2 glasses in our room. They topped the drinks in the room every 2 days although if you needed more they would replace. The staff all work so hard there, keeping it clean, entertaining guests and looking after the environment. There is a restaurant in the middle of the complex (Las Dunas) which we went to several times during the holiday. On our last day we decided to have something to eat there before our transfer. It should have served a continential breakfast from 10.30am until 12 noon. We went in just after 11 and there was hardly anything on display which we found really odd! Presuming that because the hotel wasn't too busy they didn't bother serving much in there. The island isn't very big so we did 2 trips with TUI which we enjoyed but only half a day each one. We also walked from the Hotel to Sal Rei (the nearest town). It shows on maps that you can't as there is a water inlet but that isn't correct and we managed to walk the whole way on the beach which was lovely. We had a drink in the town and a walk around then walked back (about 1 hour and 15 minutes each way). Going the other way on the beach you can walk to a beach bar and get a beer there. There are sellers on the beach but if you say you aren't interested they leave you alone. The sea is quite rough but they do have lifeguards at the hotels and flags telling you whether it is safe to swim. There are also water activities to do if you want to. The sea is so clear and we saw turtles swimming. It is a very windy island, but very warm too although we did use the blanket provided in the room at night. The TUI reps do advise you not to go into Sal Rei alone as the locals apparently try to get you into their shops but we found it was okay there and we didn't get any hassle at all. There isn't much to see but some nice bars and also gift shops and it is such a lovely walk. We wouldn't go back simply because there isn't much to do there but if you want a relaxing, chilled holiday then this is the place to go and we would definitely recommend this hotel.
