Just back from a 5 night stay at this hotel and we had a great time. After reading reviews we came with I guess slightly lower expectations but we needn’t have worried. If I’m honest I wouldn’t say it’s a 5* hotel but they do the best with what they have. So close to the airport, great easy transfer, literally 10 mins max. The place is clean and visibly cleaned regularly (pool / toilets / common areas). Lots of hand sanitizer available. Rooms are a bit old and basic but spacious and have all you need (air con / suitable bedding etc) we were towards the rear of the hotel which suited us as was nice and quiet for bedtime. The water situation threw me at first - you can’t buy / have bottled water from any of the bars- you can have a bottle sent to your room though, or the little shop sells bottled water (on site). The water provided is apparently filtered so we trusted it and were fine, no upset tummies. We also ate the salads, again we were fine. Food is imported to Boa Vista so don’t expect incredible cuisine but it’s honestly fine, it was diverse enough and omelettes were good in the mornings. Again they do the best with what they have. Good snacks available in between meal times. Beach bar one night was a white party which was fun, great atmosphere, lots of guests turned up in white & had a good boogie. Pool’s are great and cleaned each morning. Beautiful view from the smaller pool especially at sunset. You need flip flops around the pool as bricks/floor around pool a little crumbly in places, needs a bit of work. Drinks aren’t watered down, they’re nice! Only used the kids club once, kids seem to enjoy it, the staff really put the effort in. Entertainment team were great, aqua gym fun. Shows were ok, good to have something to go and watch of an evening. Lots of activities you could get involved with - volleyball etc. And usually some kind of funny game happening round the pool in the day. Entertainment team are fab, engaging but not insistent or intrusive. Always smiling and waving / high fiving. Wasn’t too windy, pleasant breeze. Chillier on a breezy shady day but actually still a lovely temp. 25 degrees for us. UV is HIGH we all burnt on day 1 despite factor 50… you really have to keep topping up. Didn’t get bitten by mozzies, barely saw any in fact. We had bug spray on regardless. Beaches are amazing - it’s worth a little walk to the dunes to the left of the hotel as you look out to sea - they’re amazing - and it’s worth walking towards the big chimney to the right of the beach as you look out to sea (approx 1.5 miles) there’s a beautiful beach bar that serves the best daiquiris on the planet! Lovely setting. There’s usually a red or yellow flag flying on the beach (red= forbidden to swim, yellow= dangerous conditions) but we still had fun knee/thigh deep jumping waves (on yellow flag days). Sea wasn’t as cold as we expected, pleasant. Staff are friendly and accommodating, and understood English fine. Felt safe. Don’t be put off of staying at this hotel, just don’t come expecting a 5* if you’re stayed at a 5* resort before. We had a great time and would return. Thanks Voia team x

Having just come back from this hotel - I would like to say that this was one of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed in. Given the recent health advice I was concerned beforehand but had no reason to be. By day 2 we were happy to eat the salads etc with no adverse effects. Room was a little tired, but the staff were really engaged and helpful. My one reservation was the picture of the pool and beach has been very cleverly taken. There is quite a drop to the beach so not really great for those who are less mobile.

“Location is amazing”

The location of the resort was beautiful, definitely 5 star for the location, the service was appalling, nothing for British people, no trips unless you're Italian, no mini fridge as advertised, no tea coffee making facilities as advertised, the 24 HR bar in a morning we had to get reception to fin… more

The location of the resort was beautiful, definitely 5 star for the location, the service was appalling, nothing for British people, no trips unless you're Italian, no mini fridge as advertised, no tea coffee making facilities as advertised, the 24 HR bar in a morning we had to get reception to find the staff because they were no where to be seen, beds and linen was ripped, cockroaches and ants in rooms, had to keep asking for loo roll and clean towels, food was amazing something for everyone, the resort itself was beautiful, entertainment was mostly for kids, the resort itself was stunning but the service not so good, no one sanitized their hands before food then touching food, not washing hands after toilet then touching food, staff should refuse entry if you don't sanitize hands before hand, made some great memories but unfortunately I won't be returning to this resort.

“Great location but not a 5 star hotel”

When we first arrived we liked what we saw. The place was clean and nicely presented. Amenities : okay I guess. Plenty of bars dotted around the place. Restaurant opened at reasonable times for breakfast lunch and dinner. Lots of taxis but remember to bring cards or cash as they are cash only. Activities : a good amount of things to do. Wouldn’t stay longer than a week though otherwise it’s all just eat, sleep, tan repeat and that’s not what we wanted. Paddle on site, some limited shops, games on the beach but only at some times of the day so bring a ball to blow up yourself or some darts or something. Rooms : I think these are what let the holiday down the most. The mattresses were rubbish. The pillows were lumpy. The air conditioning was old and noisy. The showers worked but not massively warm, with mould on the grout and damp on the walls. Lots of bugs on the bathroom floor. All just a bit dated. Would have liked tea and coffee in the rooms. Hair dryer worked but no iron. Basic rooms. Lamps on the walls were all a bit wobbly. TV didn’t work at all throughout the stay. WiFi was hit and miss. Cupboards smelt a bit musty which made our clothes musty. My friend changed her room due to a noisy air con and got a better finish. Get an upstairs room if you’re an early sleeper because chairs being moved or ladies in high heels above was like thunder in our room. Try to get one far away from the pool and the theatre because these are noisy at night. Help : Everyone was very helpful. English was limited so it was hard to explain problems. Staff did go above and beyond at points to ensure a good stay. We felt like we spent a lot of time complaining though because of various issues. Food : nice food. Sometimes a bit basic. Everything caked in oil so go easy on the portions if you’re looking for a nice body, though most people there didn’t look too bothered about this aspect. My partner got food poisoning or something and was very sick for days. We had to go to the pharmacy to get tablets but the language barrier really made things difficult. Cakes were a bit hit and miss. Watch out for the fish bones.
