As a solo female traveller, I always enjoy staying at Barceló hotels, which is why I chose this one. I’m happy to say I wasn’t disappointed. The rooms were clean, the dining areas were spotless, and both the pool and bar areas were very well maintained. The staff were all friendly, welcoming, and made me feel comfortable throughout my stay. There was a good selection of food available, and guests can also dine once per week for free in the à la carte restaurant, which was a nice bonus. There were more than enough sunbeds around the pool area, so finding a lounger was never an issue. The loungers on the beach, however, tended to get taken quite quickly. Dennis at the bar was always smiling and happy to serve, which really added to the positive atmosphere. Overall, I had a very relaxing stay and felt genuinely welcomed by all the staff.

“Excellent Chilled Out Break”

This hotel had everything I needed for my holiday. All staff were excellent - friendly, smiling, chatty. All areas were spotless. I didn't want a large hotel so this was just right, where you got to know faces meaning the whole atmosphere was friendly.

“Nice place to be”

The 1st night was close to the discotheque and Impossible to sleep. Then we change & everything was ok. Disctheques & music in crowded places, bars, roof tops, are incredibly so loud, nowadays.

When I booked this hotel I was looking for a nice relaxing break in the sunshine. Unfortunately it did not meet my expectations. I will start with the positives. I really liked the layout of the resort with the individual bungalows. The staff were lovely and deserve a 5 star. Room was spacious and clean with plenty of hot water. Sunbeds were easy to obtain. I preferred the beach as I find pool areas can get too noisy. Overall the food was okay but as I was not comfortable in the restaurant I can't say I enjoyed it. (I will explain this later) I am not a big eater but always found something. Location was as expected. Nothing around but a 20 minute walk will take you into the town of Sal Rei where there are a few shops and eateries. Now for the negatives. Because I have a hearing problem where I find loud noises can be unbearable, I specifically asked for a quiet room so if things get too loud I can always escape out of it. The room I was given overlooked the theatre which was not sound proofed. As the shows finished at a reasonable time and it was only audible for a short time, I thought I could cope. However, half way through my holiday the music started at around 5.30 and was still blasting out at 11.15. I had to phone reception to ask them to turn it off! Next day I complained but all I was offered was a move the the room next door. What?? As if that would make a difference. I was only there for a further 2 nights so just had to put up with it. Also the noise around the pool (I won't call it music!) was turned up so all I could hear on the beach and in my room was a headache inducing, monotonous thud, thud, thud which forced me to wear earbuds with quiet mode. These are great but very antisocial as I can't hear anything. So for noise and quality of relaxation I would give it 0 stars. My other big issue was the cats in the restaurant. I am allergic to them so every meal time I had to keep an eye out so I could shoo them away from my table. Even worse than the cats were the people who fed them from the table! Disgusting. Totally unhealthy and encouraged cats to beg at tables. I really did not enjoy eating there. If you want to feed animals then take it away from where the rest of us want to eat in peace. So my experience was - eat and get out of there as quick as I could! Lastly, although it looks quaint and I probably wouldn't have mentioned it if I had had a good week. The walkways are uneven cobbles so wearing heels was out of the question. I still had to watch my step in flat shoes. Plus the steps to my room were not very well lit at night. After missing the final step a couple of times I then started counting them. Need better lighting. Overall I did not have a good experience so can not recommend unless you like loud noise which was supposedly music during the day and are a cat lover. I gave it a 3 star to be fair due to the staff and the layout.
