My husband and I had the most fantastic holiday at Residencial Cabo Verde Palace. We have travelled extensively in Europe and worldwide and we have never received as warm a welcome as we did my Milu and Walter at the Residencial Cabo Verde Palace. It is a tiny place with a big heart and we were made to feel like family from day one. Milu is multi talented she is a fantastic cook and speaks many languages. The breakfasts that Milu and her staff made us every morning were the best breakfasts we have ever tasted whilst travelling. Everything was so fresh and cooked to order an served on individual trays. It included lots of local delicacies, cheeses from the Island, syrup on homemade pancakes made from the local sugar cane, fruit fritters, home made cakes and local Cape Verdean soup and bread that was still warm from the oven. We ate our breakfast on a beautiful secluded terrace surrounded by flowers and palm trees with little glimpses of the beautiful blue/green ocean twinkling through the greenery. My husband is a mad keen kite surfer and we felt that the hotel is ideally placed for this. It is just a few minutes drive away from Kite Beach or 5 euros in a taxi or if you prefer a fantastic coastal walk through the sand dunes. We loved the fact that Cabo Verde Palace was situated a few minutes walks away from the centre of town. This meant that the hotel was really tranquil, such a peaceful place away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre yet near enough to potter in when you felt like it. Milu and Walter also own Funana restaurant (Casa Cultural). You simply must visit it during your stay. It is famous for it's Wednesday night Cape Verdean dance and buffet evening. It was simply the best night of own holiday. We enjoyed an amazing buffet which included fish and meat cooked on the barbecue and lots of local delicacies and then enjoyed a show of Cape Verdean music through the ages. We have already booked to go back to Residencial Cabo Verde Palace next year just so that we can experience again such beautiful Cape Verdean hospitality in such a lovely family atmosphere.

This B&B hotel is managed by Milu and Walter, pioneers in tourism on the island of Sal, who also run the Funana Casa Cultura and really care about the well-being of their guests. The Residencial Cabo Verde Palace is located on the outskirts of Santa Maria at the end of the coastal road of Praia Antonio Sousa (Ultimo Edificio). Airport transfer is some EUR15. If you look for the beach in front of the hotel or an accomodation surrounded by livey restaurants, bars and shops, you may better chose another place, not saying you are cut off of the outside world. The city center can be reached within 15 minutes by walk or you just take one of the cabs which bring you anywhere within Santa Maria for 2-5EUR (Milu or Walter would offer you a ride, too). For the sportswomen among you, the Eco Dive Center Cabo Verde for diving or the ION Club or the Angulo Windsurf Center (founded by Josh Angulo, the wind surfer legend) for all kind of surfing sports are a 5 minutes stroll down the street. There you also find some beach restaurants or the well-known Cape Fruit Bar. Do not expect any Hilton like amenities in Residencial Cabo Verde Palaca. There is neither a hotel pool nor a gym. In exchange you will experience greatest authentic Cape Verdian hospitality by Milu - latest when she serves the unparalleled breakfast, which includes local specialties, fresh fruits and juices. The rooms are not luxurious but generous, nice and clean. If you appreciate some tranquility in a cozy place you'lI find it in that guesthouse. I would go again for the Residencial Cabo Verde Palace!

Lovely hosts Milú and Walter, always with a smile, very helpful and nice and interesting people! Lovely hosts Milú and Walter, always with a smile, very helpful and nice and interesting people! Milú is a local legend, and together with Walter they perform at their restaurant in the city center, Casa da Cultura (Funana), singing, lots of instruments and traditional dances, truly worth visiting! And not to forget the great food! You can try a local buffet with delicious cape verdian dishes, or eat à la carte. And on Thursday (late) nights there is the best party of the week: Crazy Thursday, everyone knows about it. The hotel itself is located a bit next to the center, with a great ocean view on Punta Leme, also a perfect place to go for a morning run! It's a quiet place, where you can be totally zen and enjoy the amazing breakfast. It's absolutely delicious, with a big variety of fresh fruit, eggs, bread, cake, fruit juice, coffee, tea... The rooms are spacious and clean, there's a little kitchen in each of them, and the beds are very wide. For kitesurfers and beach guests, there's an outside shower too. And a nice dog, Max. We all had a great time here!
