A beautiful hotel between mountains. The road to the hotel is kind a headake, but after you arrive everything is forget. Pure nature with lots of birds and waterfalls. Nice setting between mountains. Termal pools were perfect to relax after a hiking day. Restaurant was very good with lot of alternatives. In general a great alternative to stay.

“Heaven. A bird in the hand”

If you are coming to Colombia to experience it’s beauty… start here. I estimate it is at 12,000 asl, or higher. Lush terrain, waterfalls, creeks, birds beyond count in both quantity and variety. Restaurant 4 stars. The days and nights compete for which is the most spectacular.

“Superb Cabana accommodation but restaurant and food not so good”

We arrived around lunch time and so our room was not yet available. The lady on reception said it would be 15-20 minutes which was fine, so we went to the restaurant for lunch. Afterwards we went back to reception but apparently the room still was not ready, then the manager came along and scolded the receptionist for telling us when she expected the room to be ready, all in front of everyone around! We left our luggage and decided to explore the gardens, but soon after setting off a member of staff found us and said we could go straight to our room, which was a Cabana some distance from the main building. The Cabana was absolutely wonderful, huge with underfloor heating, a private thermal pool, a deck and small garden, a hummingbird feeder and wonderful views of the gardens and down to the city of Manizales. There was a kitchen area with fridge, coffee maker and kettle with tea/coffee etc., good bathroom, a large sunken lounge area, dining table and chairs and spacious bedroom, all nicely furnished. We were very impressed with the accommodation. The only downside was the 96 steps up to the main building/restaurant, at this high altitude and being older travellers it was a bit of a challenge. We were definitely not impressed with the restaurant. The seating and atmosphere were very poor, and the food also rather poor. The quality of our Cabana seemed to greatly exceed the other parts of this hotel. We did not use any thermal baths as we were visiting for the birdlife which was excellent. Our target bird the Rainbow-bearded Thornbill came regularly to the feeders and we got super photos.

“Only the Halls Were Warm”

Bring lots of warm clothes if you stay here. The hotel is at an altitude of over 11,000 feet, and it's cold up there. The door to the reception area was open except late at night, letting in lots of cold air. The halls leading the rooms have sliding doors and the halls are heated, so if the doors are kept closed, the halls are warm. Nothing else is. The cold air from the entrance flows directly into the dining room, which has only a small wood stove to heat a large space. I had to wear a fleece pullover and heavy coat during dinner to stay warm. Our room had a small electric heater which ran for only a few minutes before cutting off. There was no heat in the bathroom. Our room had a king-sized bed and a bunk bed. The large bed was in a corner, so whoever slept on the inside couldn't get out of bed without climbing over the person on the outside. My wife chose to sleep in the bunk bed. There was a rack with hangars for clothing, but not much more to put things, so we used the top bed of the bunk bed for storage. The water in the shower was just hot enough to be comfortable, but not hot enough to warm up the bathroom. On the plus side, the food in the dining room was very good, and portions were substantial. The room was clean. And the feeders on the grounds attracted some great hummingbirds and mountain tanagers.
