Really really enjoyed our recent stay here & would highly recommend for families travelling with children. While the hotel is a little bit outside the Old Town there are plenty of amenities on site to keep everyone entertained. The ability to use the facilities in the neighbouring Valamar hotels is also hugely beneficial particularly if the outdoor pool is too cold for you! Maro World is great and kept the kids busy while the adults relaxed. Vero Bar is relaxing and has live music almost every night. Splash Bar also nice and im only raging i didnt take the opportunity to have a beer/cocktail sitting on the seats in the pool! There is a small row of shops/restaurants 2 mins from the hotel which provides added options. Shops were handy for getting bottled water, fizzy drinks and a few goodies for the room. Food options were probably the only “let down” of there was one particularly after 6pm. Breakfast buffet was brilliant with lots of great options and we really loved the Oliva Grill and ate there most days. In fact, i would say poind for pound the best value/quality food we had in all our time in Dubrovnik. However, Oliva Grill closes at 6pm at which time the dinner buffet opens in the hotel! We ultimately didnt try the dinner buffet but this was in part dowm to confusion/ lack of info around kids pricing. It says €30 per person but unclear if kids are discounted and as a consequence we were somewhat dissuaded from trying it out!!! Maybe next time… Finally, the staff in the hotel were all excellent. Every single staff member we engaged with were friendly, pleasant and very helpful be it in Maro World, the bar or the restaurant & of course, check in (Jerko) too. A special mention for Josip and Mario in the Oliva Grill who are masters of their trade and made us want to return there every day. From a practical perspective, hotel is about 40 mins from airport and we used Uber to arrange transfer to/from. Was between €30-€40 and we booked as/when required rather than in advance. The bus is very nearby and costs €2 per adult or free if you buy city pass. We tended to use the Uber in/out of Old Town at acost of €5-€9 each way as it was just easier with 2 tired kids and as bus was quite busy and squashed!
