The Villa Aura complex looks to be a family run business where the host are very accommodating and nothing seems too much trouble. Tea who we dealt with was helpful and knowledgable and only a WhatsApp message away if needed. She even sends you a WhatsApp with all you need to know on arrival regarding shops eateries, bars and attractions. The apartment lacks some kitchen facilities and is generally basic in this regard but who wants to cook big meals when on holiday. We had a sufficient fridge and 2 ring cooker and plenty of storage with pots and pans and cups and glasses to enable us to make breakfast and dinner when in the complex, and ate out of an evening. The beds were comfy and the room contained a sofa, dining table set, TV, aircon, safe and balcony along with plenty of wardrobe space and drawers to ensure everything could be put away nicely. The bathroom was spacious and the shower was an electronic enclosure with radio and all the fancy gubbins. The pool whilst small is sufficient for a nice dip to cool off and available all day till 8pm (or was when we were there). We were mainly the only ones who used it in 2 weeks. There is also a hot-tub if that is your choosing but has to be paid for as an extra if wanting to use it. There was a lack of loungers on first look, and these are in various locations around the complex, but in our 2 weeks we always found the ones we wanted available and saw the rest usually un-used with only a couple of days where we saw other guests using them. There were more that looked to be available if it was busy but it never seemed to be. The gym was hidden under the terrace but it was great for the times I used it. It also contained a large Tv, Xbox and CD’s etc. so plenty of stuff to do if wanted. There is a nice covered sofa seating area outside the apartment rooms (within complex) that had lots of books to choose from if needed or to just to sit at and relax out of your apartment. Towels were provided for showering and also separate ones for use by the pool. These were changed weekly and we were told if we needed them changing sooner just to ask. The room was cleaned daily and beds remade etc. Overall the complex was great and more than sufficient for our needs. It generally felt like we had our own private pool and terrace area to sunbathe on for the majoriy of the holiday. A bit like having your own holiday villa but with staff lol. The area the apartments are located makes a good base. It was a quiet area but well located. The large local supermarket is 2 minutes away at the front of the complex and offers all you need with fresh bakery produce (pasties and cakes). The views around were stunning and you’re at the harbour end so there are lots of great millionaire yachts and boats to be dreamed over. We found many eateries nearby and visited the most local Mezzanave many times. The food and atmosphere was great and very reasonably priced (£15-£20 for main meals). Some other places were a little more pricey but not too unexpected in this area. If you want a beach it’s a short walk towards Lapad, 10-15 minutes. There is also lots of official walking routes you can take around the area if you just want a stroll and these are highlighted on the welcome map provided at the complex. The views again are stunning. This really is a very beautiful place. If you require a bit more liveliness then we found Lapad centre the best place. Again about a 15-20 minute walk or £8 taxi (Uber). The Sports Bar Mario (great for English football) and next to Pizza Mama Mia which were both great venues. Nice friendly staff and reasonably priced. There were many more in that area. We especially liked Cave Bar More which is a quirky pub / eatery in a cave with great views outside, worth a visit. As well as the lovely Indian restaurant Denery’s (we hoped the food was flame grilled by a dragon). We also liked Shelby’s which is a nice snack bar (great for burgers) and handy refreshment stop if you need a pint on the way to or from somewhere, again on the way into Lapad just past the harbour area. If you like GOT then you will be heading into the Old Town. This was a good 30 minute walk from the apartment (worth it for the views on the way in) but there are plenty of buses or taxis to use (Uber much cheaper than local taxis we found). If you get a Dubrovnik pass this includes bus fares. Tea explained all this on arrival so we were prepared. The pass also allows access to the city walls, fort and other tourist attractions so works out good value for money. The old town was very nice in the day, lots to do and lively of an evening but we preferred to stay local (Lapad). The trips we did were GOT walking tour (3 hours - 09:30 start at the old town) including the trip to Lokum Island (additional costs for the boat to the island and tour but discounts offered with Dibrovnik pass). The Island tour allows you to stay for rest of the day once the tour has finished as you can get any ferry back (hence booking the earlier walking tour to allow extra time at the Island - last ferry quoted as 6pm but can be later, it was 7pm on our visit). We walked the walls late afternoon after the boat back for the sunset (included in Dubrovnik pass) but was a little early to see it fully set. The views from the walls are quite spectacuar. We didnt try the cable car up to the top of the hill, which can also be walked either way, but again it is meant to have spectacular views. The only negative of the holiday was mosquitos. I would advise Mosquito repellant bands, not electronic ones that don’t actually work, but scented ones or spray. We got bit a lot till we bought some spray. On our last day there were lots of new arrivals planned, so we were unable to keep the room till later in the day, as we’d hoped. We were able to keep it an extra hour while they cleaned another room and offered us access to another room to shower and get changed before departure. Would we stay here again, yes. Couldn’t fault it. If we come back is another matter as there are lots of other places to go see. Dave & Liz aged 51.

Firstly the room was absolutely spotless....!!!! Large and comfortable, Shower was super perfect with towels and shower/ hair gels Kitchen was great for cooking and the supermarket just next door has everything We was greeted by the host Tea at the front entrance as she kept in touch with us with directions, information,where togo, and what todo. Always happy to help You need to use this mini hotel to its full potential. Gym....!!!!! and what a Gym it is,,!! Pool is just perfect to jump in after a long day walking and sight seeing just perfect plus you get pool towels Bonus A relaxing morning or afternoon in the outside covered seating area is great for laptop reading or drinking wine They have a terrace which points to the port and hills and is in full afternoon sun perfect for catching the afternoon sun Best way to access this property from the ferry port and avoiding steps is head to the large supermarket and walk up the left side to the carpark at the back, you will see a set of steps 6 of them which brings you out at the Apartment The bus stop is just across the road very easy to catch a bus don't bother walking into town just catch the bus its only 5 mins into town You will realise its far better to stop out of the town then be lugging all your cases up many steps in the old town
