We stayed at the hotel for a very special birthday celebration and overall had a lovely time. We arrived late in the evening, but reception had already upgraded all three of our rooms and placed them next to each other on the ground floor, exactly as we had requested in an email before arrival. This was a great start to our stay and very much appreciated. The rooms were clean, spacious, and included a separate bedroom area, which made them feel very comfortable. We also had nice views opposite the large pool area. The food in the buffet restaurant was good with plenty of choice, although at times some dishes were not quite warm enough. We raised this with the manager, who genuinely tried his best to resolve the issue. As the hotel was still in its soft opening stage, it was clear that the large number of guests booking during August was a little too much for the current staffing levels. The hotel grounds are beautifully maintained and very large. The shuttle buses that take guests around the resort are helpful, although getting on and off can be difficult if travelling with an elderly person who requires assistance. The staff were always kind and willing to help, the only problem at times was rude guests pushing past others. The water park at Seagate, accessed via the hotel shuttle, was a fantastic added bonus and something we really enjoyed. But booking was a bit time consuming and bus times meant we had to be back earlier. Booking the à la carte restaurants for a large group was difficult, but Guest Relations were very helpful and arranged reservations for us. We particularly enjoyed the Indian and Italian restaurants, and the service in the à la carte restaurants was very good. The bars and drinks service were a little hit and miss. Staff would benefit from additional training when making drinks, and more staff behind the bars would definitely help during busy periods. However, once the staff got to know you, they were very friendly and quick to help. The sunbeds were one of the few disappointing areas. For a five-star resort, they were not very comfortable and would benefit from padded loungers. The sun umbrellas were also quite lightweight, meaning the wind regularly blew them over and caused damage. Heavier-duty umbrellas designed to withstand windy conditions would make a big improvement to the pool areas. It would also be useful if there was more information displayed around the hotel about entertainment and daily activities. During our stay we spoke with both the director and the assistant manager to pass on our feedback, and they were appreciative of the comments. Hopefully many of these improvements will be implemented in the near future, both for future guests and for when we return ourselves to experience the hotel fully open, including the completed water park facilities. Despite a few small issues, we had a very enjoyable stay and can see the hotel has great potential once everything is fully established.
