We managed to get away just after lockdown was released, so perhaps we were excited to be out and therefore easily pleased. As others have said this place is an oasis, hidden away behind a stone wall, in the very heart of Douarnenez - but still easyto find. Because of that, most things you need are in walking distance, so we walked into town to find supper. Things to do in the hotel were limited due to C19, such as the outdoor pool being off limits - a shame as it looked great. And just across the road is a beach, but down some steep steps, so not ideal for all. The hotel itself was very, very quiet - no other children, so if you have a tribe, its probably not for you, but we had three in a room, and our room had a great little conservatory area giving access to the garden, but more importantly somewhere for Mum and Dad to enjoy a glass of something whilst junior sleeps. We walked down to the estuary/riverside, where there was a surprising amount of activity, found a pizzeria and enjoyed the buzz of being outside - after months of lockdown. Very few people wearing masks, although the staff did so - and the following few days in France saw more and more people masking-up. Breakfast was a bit odd, self - served across several rooms, including the hall, but I suppose they are trying to comply with their C19 rules and regs too. All in all a great stay. The original chateau/building is beautiful, even if the extenion is incongruous, and being so close to the church meant we could hear the bells. positive - a beautiful old hotel - exactly my style negative - the garden and pool were not clean, - the breakfast was not fresh - smoking at the buffet (breakfast) is not ok in my opinion

What a peculiar place...a great location, a beatififul building, great rooms, great vieuws... and ar the same time: derelict and in very dire need of some investment in time and money. What a peculiar place...a great location, a beatififul building, great rooms, great vieuws... and ar the same time: derelict and in very dire need of some investment in time and money. This must once have been a great, new place - and one can only wonder what happened: the - very friendly- receptionist lady does not give anything away - as well she should’nt. Housekeeping is substandard, old dust everywhere ... and then there are the FLIES. Hundreds of them. Which is why there is a spraycan of insect killer in the room. C’mon - are we supposed to sleep in insecticide fumes? Pots of Dead plants in the corridors - WHY? The garden has not been tended in years - WHY? Breakfast: OK, but not cheap. And drinking the coffee will necessitate a rapid trip to the farmacy - to invest some imodium.
