the location and the property were perfect and so beautiful. The room was clean and comfortable. We had a very good time there. Breakfast was fantastic and dining room was beautiful. It was wonderful to walk into the garden.

This is a lovely place in the middle of nowhere much, surrounded by beautiful countryside, with the pretty village of Locronan and fine Atlantic beaches nearby. Just the place for a relaxing few days. The rooms are not actually in the Manoir itself, but in converted outbuildings. Our room was spacious and plainly furnished, the bed was comfortable, and we had a somewhat overgrown rustic seating area outside. There was a coffee maker. The bathroom and toilet seemed poorly ventilated, which was probably why we had to have fresh towels each day - the used ones would not have dried. We were allocated one coffee capsule each per day. But the view was splendid, the weather was good and we enjoyed the peace and quiet. A fortnight before our arrival, we received an email to say that the hotel's restaurant would be closed from the beginning of October. This was disappointing, because we had not planned to drive anywhere in the evenings, and we certainly did not intend to go as far as Douarnenez or Quimper. Apart from any other consideration, we enjoy a glass of wine (or two) with our dinner. So effectively we were limited for our evening meal to an expensive hotel or two, or to Locronan. Here there are many restaurants, but finding one that was actually open in the evening proved fairly challenging. On Wednesday there was just one, and it was a hotel. The situation improved at the weekend. But the list of restaurants provided by the Manoir was almost useless - nobody had bothered to find out what was open and what was not. The ground floor of the Manoir itself contained a sparsely furnished salon with reception desk, the large dining room (currently out of use) and the rather gloomy 'guard room' in which the buffet breakfast was set out. The breakfast was adequate - the croissants were good - but the coffee, which was left in a large vacuum flask, was almost undrinkable and quite unworthy of any hotel which valued its guests. As far as I can remember, we have never before stayed at a hotel in France which did not provide freshly made coffee at breakfast. Of course there are staffing problems, but there was a member of staff on hand who did not seem all that busy - could they not make a fresh pot of coffee for each table? If not, there are machines which make excellent coffee. It seemed an inexplicable lapse. So we enjoyed our stay, but the hotel seemed neglected and in need of positive leadership. Management was conspicuous by its absence.
