Whilst we have always admired this little hotel we have not stayed here but know those who have and were well satisfied. We do, however, travel into here for the restaurant. Run by same family for many years it has retained staff who know what they are doing and we are fortunate that they recognise us and therefore we were able to get a table for a Saturday night. Several fixed price menu's offer some of the finest food in the town served with flair and style, wine to suit all tastes and pockets should satisfy everyone. Starting with a mid range excellent wine we began and service was a fast or slow as you could reasonably wish. Choosing, in fact, from two of the menus we began to remember why this is a highlight of St Malo and to see how lucky we were to get a table as it was soon heaving with visitors and locals who can appreciate. Only staying a couple of nights did not give too much opportunity to book again but we will be looking forward to our next visit.

We had a little family get-together and occupied one double room and a single (myself) The Hotel has a really central position in the old town. My room was very small with a comfortable double bed, very clean shower/toilet and good lighting for reading in bed (very important to me.) Despite its small size, it contained everything I needed for the 3-night stay. The breakfast was basic, the bread fresh and the coffee very strong. We ate Dinner in the Restaurant on the day of arrival and were delighted with the food and the selection of wines, so we booked a table again for the last night. We found the Staff very efficient and polite. All three of us feel the same about this Hotel and decided, should we meet in St. Malo in the future, to stay here again.

Although prior booked, on arrival it was shut. After knocking to no avail, found a number on our original confirmation email to ring. Although prior booked, on arrival it was shut. After knocking to no avail, found a number on our original confirmation email to ring. Shortly after explaining we were at the front door, a harassed apologetic woman appeared who with no preamble took us straight to our room, left us the key and disappeared. The room was more spacious than we have been used to when staying at other hotels in St Malo. Clean with a lovely shower room and separate toilet and very comfortable large double bed. We never saw anybody when we set out for an evening meal or on our return, leaving us with the impression we were alone in the hotel. However this was dispelled when we went down for breakfast, albeit briefly meeting a couple of other residents and a man and woman cleaning the floors. The breakfast was basic but very good, with some very fresh bread, croissants, coffee and freshly pressed orange juice. When we came to check out, we had to go looking for somebody who could then not find our booking. All this was dealt with in good humour and the whole experience of staying here was endearing. The hotel is in a good location and our bedroom had a good view over a square. With the windows closed it was very quiet but as with a lot of hotels in the intra muros, windows open invite a lot of noise from late night revellers echoing around the narrow streets. The in-house restaurant was closed the night we stayed. Just a final note - the lift shaft grill reminded me of West Side Story.

“Good dinner, no parking!”

We arrived in the early afternoon. We stopped outside the hotel in order to unload our luggage. The adjacent cafe owner demanded that we move, the staff at the hotel showed no interest in guiding us to a suitable parking space.. We ended parking some distance from the hotel at a charge of £30 per day! We will never book into an hotel in St Malo without parking. This hotel served a good dinner on Saturday but the restaurant was closed on Sunday. The rooms were ok
