“A remote rural Auberge away from crowds at Crotoy. Well presented food but overpriced.”

Had lunch on the 16th July 2023 as a 'drop in' when driving along the coast. Dinning room filled up over lunchtime with about 30 covers. Only one table for six unoccupied. The cheapest set menu was 35 odd Euros and had a good selection. Service was quick and friendly with limited English spoken. Wife had a single a la carte dish of Moules and Frites which was large and tasty. My fixed menu had three choices per course. The Fish soup was hot and served with croutons, garlic mayonnaise and shredded cheese. The Main course was shredded duck breast topped with parmentier potatoe and salad. The desert chosen was very well presented, tart citroen and cream. Overall quite pricy. Standard coffee at 2.40 Euro v normal 1.40. Situated in rural area, so away from the crowds of Crotoy and the interior has character.

This was our third visit to the area but we had never managed to stay overnight. We’d had a drink at the Auberge de la Dune previously and were pleased to be able to try the hotel and restaurant. The room was on the small side as was the bathroom but both were comfortable and clean. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food and wine were both excellent but the service could have been friendlier. The breakfast the next morning was the best we’d had on this trip to France. The wifi did not work after 11pm or in the morning. We booked the demi-pension rate which is good value.

Quite attractive auberge in the countryside, but nowhere near a dune. The room was average with a small shower in the bathroom. Quite attractive auberge in the countryside, but nowhere near a dune. The room was average with a small shower in the bathroom. There was no air conditioning, so we had to sleep with the windows open and the shutters closed - luckily the road outside was not busy at night. All the bedding was made with nylon type man-made fabric, that is quick for the hotel to wash and dry but very uncomfortable on a hot night. The bar was convenient with outside seating. The restaurant seemed quite good but I made the mistake at the time of booking of taking up their special offer of demi-pension. The dinner was the cheapest menu on offer with no choice for any of the three courses. The entree and the main course were both inexpensive fish dishes - unfortunate if one did not like fish! It did not seem to be a special offer as the individual parts added up the what we paid, and although the inexpensive fish course was well cooked there were much better food choices on the other menus available.
