“Pleasant stay overall but room for improvement”

We enjoyed our stay overall. The place was clean and quiet at night, the swimming pools were good. The accom was clean and facilities provided were good (incl cleaning kit). Good car parking available and a pleasant stroll to the Port through the golf course and lake. However, there are several important areas requiring improvement: - Air conditioning does not exist. We had to leave the door and windows fully open at night which is unfair. While air con may be expensive to install, P&V should provide silent fans for the bedrooms and living area. - Our accommodation (2 bed apartment) was located at the golf club. P&V tried to contact us on the day of arrival to advise but we were travelling and did not receive that notification. Reception was closed for lunch when we arrived. The directions provided were unclear. This caused us a lot of unnecessary hassle when we arrived which could have been prevented. - Requests for an early check-in should be accommodated (for no additional cost) during low season. Occupancy was low where we were staying. - Wifi access did not work (at Bourgenay golf club where we were staying). - The water slide should be operating at the end of June. - The kids play area needs major modernisation. The crazy golf is dated and the playground isn't fit for purpose. - The exterior common areas of the P&V Bourgenay accommodation would benefit from a lick of paint - alot of peeling paint on corridors.

Great fun holiday for all the family. However the resort itself is dated and in need of some much needed attention. Up dated health and safety required in particular in pool areas. It would appear Pierre & Vacances Group are investing more in the Centre Parcs brand. We were a 20 / 25 minute walk from centre. On arrival in 40 plus degrees we arrived at Maeva reception to be told to go to P & V reception (15 minute walk) but no offer to assist when clearly it was required in heat...(P&V and Maeva are part of same group). Accommodation - no air conditioning despite website suggesting otherwise, we booked accom for 6 (4 in our family) as were told units quite small. An understatement. Bikes hired for duration (bike hire within the resort - team very helpful and friendly). Be very careful on bikes within resort as some unofficial paths can / did cause accidents. Also should be speed limit in resort for bikes. And block off unofficial paths. Quality of food in resort was ok but would prefer more fish and french options versus pizza. Staff in restaurants were in general very welcoming in particular small italian café and at La Belem. Resort close to La Croiseé .... lovely area for lunch or dinner. Tapas / Wine bar and Italian restaurant both excellent. Small supermarket in La Croiseé. None in resort. Port area very nice and a few lovely restaurants. Boat hire place well recommended. Overall unlikely to return unless investment made to upgrade resort. Despite all this we did have a great holiday.

“Disappointing”

we have stayed in Port Bourgenay many times but not in The Domaine du Moulin which are all houses (maisons) not appartments. My first words on opening the door were "OMG" its so small. The kitchen, dining and extra bedroom area(for3) were the same size as an appartment. There is a double bedroom upstairs and both people can get out of bed without one having to climber over the other as is the case in a flat. My husband found the bed so uncomfortable that he chose to sleep downstairs. I found the pillows hot and uncomfortable. The window in the bedroom only opens inwards and cannot be fixed so it bangs in the breeze. The curtain cannot be fully closed due to the window opening inwards so I was woken early with light coming in. There is a wardrobe with lots of hangers and space for cot. There is a bathroom upstairs but no loo! For me this meant a trip down a really narrow wooden stairs in the night. The wooden stairs are not carpeted and creaked loudly. I thought the narrow steep stairs were dangerous, but there appeared to be stair gates top and bottom. The loo is in the entrance hall alongside a storage cupboard. Not only did the maison seem no bigger than an apartment, it was shabby.There were deep marks on the dining table and the outside table was not clean. The wooden shutters had not been cleaned and there were green watermarks and rust marks from the hinges. The shutters could not be folded back and secured because of the hedges between the houses. We were always able to find a parking space when we returned to the property. If you have children there is a rough mown area where the children gathered and played together in the evening. We are not keen on the restaurants in the port area and went into Talmont to see if restaurants were open, finding them closed we asked at reception but one receptionist just shrugged her shoulders and said she wasn t from the area, but luckily Gladys went out of her way to tell us about a new restaurant in Bourgenay. The gardens around the properties are not particularly well kept despite it s green claim I went to the pool and found a sun lounger easily, but the area around the pools has lots of small stones so after the sanitizer pool keep your sandals with you.
