“Great location, cute room, great facilities and friendly staff”

Had a wonderful stay at a place with central/great location (right on the main ‘tram line’ road. Breakfast avail for €16, but we ate out with friends. Room was quite tiny, but fine for us. Bathroom and shower were great with good pressure/temp. We had a tiny balcony looking out onto the street. The one issue is that there is limited parking (5 spaces), which you must reserve in advance. The carpark is at the hotel Mirabeau, which is 2doors down from the Hotel Monsigny. Cost is €22 per day (12pm-12pm :24 hrs). The best way into the carpark entrance is actually driving along Rue Vernier, then at the lights, turn hard left onto the ‘pedestrian’ part (between the bollards), and the entrance/carpark is right there. If you type in 2 Avenue Malaussena to Google Maps, you’ll get there (make sure you drive along Rue Vernier).

“Great hotel and service”

The customer service was great. Our room was very spacious and wonderful, it fit 4 adults very well. We would’ve loved to see more Gluten-free options in the menu, because we are allergic to any gluten dishes. But overall an amazing experience and would definitely comeback again!

Our stay at Hotel Monsigny was great, exactly fitting our needs and exceeding our expectations. The location close to the main train station was important, and being in a well-lighted area after dark was added security because of a late-night commitment. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom, while typically small, was well appointed. Staff who greeted us were kind and friendly, and the buffet breakfast was perhaps the best we’ve enjoyed at a European hotel, even at far greater cost. We would not hesitate to stay there again if we need a hotel in Nice.

Disappointing stay at Monsigny, has lots of potential but just doesn’t deliver. When is the last time anyone stayed in a hotel without facilities to make hot drinks in their room? was told we could have a kettle if we paid a 20euro deposit, but they had no kettles left, so we were charged nearly 16 euros for 2 cups of tea! The breakfast is ok, but it’s poorly designed so everyone is trying to be in a small space getting food, making toast and getting drinks, it doesn’t work, it’s hot and feels like you’re eating in a corridor, criminal when there is a lovely seating area at the front unused until the evenings, that looks out onto the street, and would make a lovely breakfast seating area. The staff are hit and miss, some lovely, some less so. The roof terrace they advertise is only open April to September, shame as the weather was good enough to use this feature, think this needs reviewing. The rooms are dark and our junior suite was not exactly plush and the view from the window somewhat lacking for a suite, The hotel is in a great location but sadly we wouldn’t stay there again.
