very good location (some minutes of walk from the airport (teminal 1), from public transport and railway station, clean and calm hotel (with swimming pool..), and with usual fantastic Ibis breakfast

“Ticks all the boxes”

I visit Nice twice a year and have been doing so for many years. I visit Nice twice a year and have been doing so for many years. This was the first time staying at this hotel, booked because they had a good offer and the price was much lower than equivalent hotels. The hotel is a fifteen minute tram ride into the centre of Nice, apart from that there are not really any disadvantages staying here. If arriving from the airport, catch the tram and get off at Grand Arenas stop. The tram is free up to this stop, so no need for a ticket. The hotel is a five to eight minute walk from this stop. Room was clean, comfortable and apart from not having a mini fridge or safe was fine. Good air conditioning. Breakfast was the usual French fayre of cold meats cheese, breads ,cornflakes and pastries - all you need to set you up for the day. You can eat your breakfast outside too, if the weather is good. Free swimming pool is another big draw. A ten minute walk away is a Carrefour City supermarket that is well stocked. You can buy ready made meals there to take back to the hotel and warm up in the microwave in the restaurant area. Another bonus is the free water machine by the lift in the restaurant- great for filling up your water bottle. Free popcorn is offered too from 4pm. The restaurant serves pizzas starting at from 11.50 euros. Another bonus is the free tea and coffee in reception via the kettle in the restaurant, you boil the water and then use the tea bags or satches. I never saw any milk there, so maybe buy your own from the Carrefour supermarket. Restaurants around this business area are expensive - depending on which country you come from. If you are British expect to pay a lot more than you would at home. Americans, especially those from New York will find prices much lower than at home. The train station is a good ten minute walk away called Nice St Augustin. Trains here go all along the coast to Grasse, Antibes, Cannes etc and Nice, Monaco right up to Ventimiglia in the other direction. Watch out for pickpockets at this particular station, I was pickpocketed here 2 years ago- my credit card was used within five minutes of being stolen. Over the past year the problem seems to have got better with security sometimes on patrol and not as many Eastern European young girls hanging around who are usually the ones who distract you or try to help you, whilst their hands are in your pockets! Would stay at this hotel again. Nice especially in Sumertime is not a inexpensive place to stay, if the price of this hotel fits your budget then you will be fine.
