“Amazing experience”

I came to this hotel to visit the spa for one day, the atmosphere is calm and pleasant and the ladies who work there are so professional and friendly and always there to assist you.

We enjoyed our 11 day holiday at Atlantica Caldera Palace; the staff were attentive and friendly, the food was good, our room was large and the bed was very comfortable.

This is a great hotel for a relaxation break but just a couple of things that prevent a 5 start review. Room We stayed in a swim up room in block G facing the adult pool area (7008). This room, like all swim up rooms only had sun on the terrace for half the day, ours until around 1.30pm. Room very comfortable & well maintained so no complaints there. Pools As it was outside of school holidays the majority of people at the hotel were adults only so the adult pool areas were always very busy and most beds reserved from early in the morning. Despite this we always managed to find a spot later in the day after we lost the sun on our terrace. The sunbeds are the most uncomfortable we've experience, many damaged and all look very well worn, really expect more from a '5 Star' hotel. Fixed parasols in place all around the adult pool makes it almost impossible to stay out of the shade. Pools are very big, very clean but a little cold this time of year. Food The adult breakfast restaurant was closed but eating outside the main restaurant was fine, staff very attentive and breakfast selection very good. Evenings was typical all inclusive fare, the main buffet did have a good selection which varied each day but was never very hot, even when fresh trays bought out. The Thai restaurant was ok, nothing special and would say it was more Chinese. We also dined in the Italian but walked out when our disgusting meal was served up. How does 2 chicken drumsticks on top of a bowl of lukewarm pasta count as Italian? We walked out and managed to get some food in the buffet before it closed. After this experience we didn't bother with another 'a la carte'. Olympia in the buffet restaurant is a credit to the hotel and made sure we had food after our Italian disaster. Our main issue was how early the restaurant closed, 9.00pm with it starting to clear up around 8.45pm, a bit rushed when on holiday. Tex Mex good at lunchtime but unless you have a burger the food is cold and pre-prepared. Drink. Probably the best all inclusive drinks we've experienced. Usual fare with wines and beer and ok if you don't compare to what you normally drink at home. Very good range of spirits included, local liquors (Irish Cream, Amaretto etc) and cocktails were pretty decent (and strong)! The Guru Bar is a great spot to cill out late afternoon and in the evening and George is a superb barman. Entertainment. We didn't watch any of the shows as these aren't our vibe. There is live music at different tiimes in Guru and Lobby bars but this gets a bit boring after a couple of days of the same acts.
