Lovely family business and lovely staff feels like your part of the family Nothing is too much trouble the food is home cooked and is delicious There’s drinks of all kinds and food available anytime The pool is extremely well looked after and there’s no sun bed wars Short walk to the front and also the bus stop is just up the road that works really well the conductor asks where you want and will alert you of your stop Marinas nephew has the local taxi firm and is prompt and cheap Marina and staff are always on hand to give you advice The self catering is basic but you don’t want for anything at all This is the place to come for a peaceful relax home from home We are repeat guests as are a lot of people I can not praise villa marina enough

Bit of a belated review as we stayed at the end of September 2025. We arrived very late at night and Marina had left the key in the door of our room and said she would check us in, in the morning. Room was very basic, self catering but no oven,no grill, no toaster, no microwave and no TV and the beds were quite hard. Being the last week of September it was very quiet and we felt like we were the only ones staying there. Marina was an amazing host and you only had to ask if you needed anything. Unfortunately her husband was in hospital while we were there so we didn't get to meet him. The food was fantastic and we ate there 4 of the evenings we were there. There isnt really anything nearby so would recommend a car for families staying there. Having said that, the bus service is quite good. To get to the bus stop you have to cross a busy road. The bus was €2 per person each way. Get on at bus stop 18 (left out of the hotel, walk to the end of the barriers and cross over) bus stop 20 is hersonnisos. 10/15 minute walk to the beach out the top of the hotel, turn left and take the next road left. Beach is ok, very rocky shoreline though. Sunbeds €5 each and umbrella €5. Most of the nicer sunbeds are owned by hotels along the front and are for customer use only. Few supermarkets and restaurants along the front and you can walk all the way to Annalipsi along the beach front. Hotel is on the main road and you are aware of the traffic when round the pool (that may just have been because it was so quiet there at the time-we mostly had the pool to ourselves) Very quiet though near the back of the hotel-we stayed in room 1, one of the furthest from the road. Directly under the flight path into Heraklion airport so planes flying over quite frequently, but wasn't an issue for us. The Aquaworld aquarium in hersonnisos is a must if you like reptiles. Only a small place but you can get hands on with snakes, lizards and tortoises. Most are reptiles that have been rescued and at €10 per person, it is well worth it. We decided to walk into Hersonnisos a couple of times rather than getting the bus. It is a 40 minute walk. Part of the way you are walking along the road with no footpath so probably wouldn't recommend it with young children. Taxis are €10 each way and are easy to get All in all we had a fantastic holiday at Villa Marina-it was exactly what we needed and Crete is just a beautiful island. Marina and her team definitely made the holiday for us. We got home feeling totally chilled and relaxed and like we'd had a proper rest from the stresses of everyday life

Perfect, ticked all of the boxes . Basic but clean , tidy and so welcoming. Wouldn't hesitate to return , excellent hosts ,!

We are currently at this villa , it’s nothing like the pictures shown by travel agents , the place is very run down . Our room is dark depressing and very old and the electric are unsafe , the apartment has 2saucepans a milk jug and a frying pan , 2 knives 2 forks 2 teaspoons 1 bread knife and 1 steak knife , there is a very old fridge which either freezes stuff solid or warms then up , there is a travel kettle with a very poor extension applied to it so it will reach the one and only plug in apartment., tried to cook an omelette the other evening, there was no grater and the omelette stuck to the frying pan so ended up with burnt scrambled egg, The bedroom is very dark and the shower only sits at waist high , so you can’t stand and have a relaxing shower , you get one bath towel each and one hand towel .No light outside door so can’t see key hole so have to use phone to unlock door at night , I think the only people keeping this place going, is regular customers that come year in year out , have the same rooms each time and are comfortable with there accommodation, which is not a bad thing but when new guest come the owners should make the effort to put people into safe and clean and functional rooms , we are leaving to spend our last week in another place which is turning out to be an expensive anniversary holiday , don’t do what I did check dates on reviews that was my mistake, there was no resent reviews, the one I read was from 2025 😞😞👎 Ok checked out today no one speaks English or we tried to explain why we was leaving but she didn’t understand and said you leaving because you are cold , I said no , forget it 👎
