We've just returned from a week's stay, our first family holiday abroad with our sons aged 8 and 3. First of all, the hotel is beautiful; gorgeous decor and all the communal areas are well kept and you can see the staff keeping them clean throughout the day. Lots of comfortable seating available both in and outdoors. We had a double room with sofa and pull out bed, which was perfectly fine for us. The room was cleaned everyday and fresh towels provided - an unexpected service! The food stands out; so many options that you can't not find something for everyone. The restaurant staff work so hard constantly clearing and relaying the tables, replenishing the food and keeping the areas clean. The snack bar is fantastic, so much so we had to have some restraint so as to not spoil lunch and dinner! You're given a card to get a towel from the spa which can be replaced every 2 days. Plenty of sun beds available along with seating under canopies if you want to get out of the sun. Our boys loved the water park - so refreshing for our youngest to have an area suitable for him to roam somewhere freely with 3 slides - the bigger slides are great, even my husband and I had a go on them! The children's entertainment made the boy's stay - although we didnt use the club during the day, we went to the mini disco every night and the group of entertainers made them so welcome and took the time to talk to them if they saw them during the day. You'll come back with the disco songs stuck in your head! All of the staff are so warm and friendly; Sofia in particular is a gem! My only suggestions, and these are just personal to me, would be for a mirror near the plug point in the rooms and maybe a step stool in the bathrooms to help little ones reach the sink, although I don't know if there are h&s implications with this? Overall we wouldn't hesitate to come back, in fact I feel we'll use Atlantica as a measurement against future holidays!

Just back from a week at Atlantica  Akti Zeus, in a group of 2 families (4 adults & 5 children aged 9-17). We were blessed with warm weather for the penultimate week of the season, and pleased with a resort that offered sufficient opportunity to keep our group engaged and entertained throughout. The jewel in the crown of the hotel, though, has to be the food. Most mornings and evenings we visited the main restaurant, which offered a wide range of delicious, freshly prepared, and tempting options. There were plenty of options to suit all guests from local delicacies, to children menus, and specific theme nights (which still had ample alternative offerings). Not only was the food wonderful, but it was also constantly replenished, this is not a hotel where you have to race to dinner to ensure you don’t miss anything. For lunch there is a snack bar which is the best we have seen in 10 years taking our families on all inclusive holidays. It offers a smaller buffet style similar to the main restaurant, with different options daily. This is all complimented by a snack bar housed in a building by the main reception, which offers freshly prepared crepes and waffles (be warned the wait time can be a little long as they are cooked to order). The hotel also offers a few bars situated throughout the site, a pool bar open during pool opening hours, the main reception bar which is double sided, with one side in the reception area, and one opening out to a delightful  courtyard with beautiful trees and bushes picked out beautifully at night time with well placed lighting. During the evenings there was also a bar by the upstairs entertainment veranda, and a beautiful wine bar, which offers another beautiful outdoor drinking experience amongst some expertly placed small trees again with great lighting. The wine bar, operated by Christina (who stood out for her friendly service) offered the wine, beer and soft drinks options from the all inclusive list, as well as 25% discounts on bottles if you fancied upgrading your wine tastes.   Aside from the excellent eating and dining options, there was plenty to keep our group entertained, with the main pool merely 100 yards from the beach, both of which offered sufficient sun loungers for all. There was also an excellent splash park based in the hotel, with a mixture of body and single/double inflatable ring slides, and 2 smaller collections of slides and splash activity for toddlers. It was the kamikaze and wave rider that were the stand out rides for thrill seekers that stood the splash park out from others, as these would be much more at home if found in a big off-site aqua park. The entertainment team serenaded us by dancing along to their theme song around the main pool at the start of every morning and afternoon, before proving various activity options such as beach volleyball, water polo, yoga, pilates, and darts for all to join in. Also on the beach you could access jet ski, and boat hire, along with booking sessions on the banana or crazy sofa, which were pulled along by a speed boat, all of which comes at an extra cost. The rooms were well proportioned with a daily cleaning and bed making, and fresh towels every 2 days, but to be honest we did not spend much time in the rooms, with to do outside. Finally the staff across the hotel were all extremely polite, friendly, and nothing seemed to be too much bother when it came to helping the guests.   Having stayed in an Atlantica Hotel in Kos for our first all inclusive family holiday 10 years ago, where the food and staff service still stood out, we were pleased to discover this appears to be a theme with Atlantica Hotels, so we will not leave it so long before visiting one of their resorts in future.

Having read some negative reviews prior to arrival I wasn't sure what to expect however was pleasantly surprised. Having read some negative reviews prior to arrival I wasn't sure what to expect however was pleasantly surprised. Room (family room with sliding doors) was not very big but we didn't spend much time there so not important. Biggest issue with room was having no wardrobe or drawers in the partition with the other beds. We had some trouble with ants in the room but upon informing reception a cleaner came immediately with spray and they did not return. Food was generally good and varied and the cocktails were always made freshly rather than pre prepared. The space around the pool did get crowded at times but we were always able to get loungers as long as we went down before 9. From about 12, people started leaving their loungers so there were always free ones in the afternoon. Upon arrival was a bit alarmed at the proximity of the power station but never gave it a second thought as you could only really see it from the beach.

“Good hotel stay”

We was very happy with this hotel, the room was good, plenty of room to put clothes away etc and the food was very good, plenty to choose from. Never a problem getting a drink or sun lounger at any time of day. We particularly enjoyed being on the beach with easy access to the bar nearby. Sea very clear and good to swim in. The Staff was very friendly and helpfull and the room cleaner excellent. Easy to walk up to the nearest shops etc and the bus to heraklion stops right outside the hotel. Also you can do a long walk along the beach to heraklion if you really want!
