We arrived at Malena Hotel late at night and were warmly welcomed and assisted. The staff were kind and pleasant. The hotel is small, clean, and cozy, with a warm atmosphere. It’s designed like a traditional Greek village — charming and authentic. The place is quiet, not crowded, and conveniently close to the airport. The breakfast was varied and delicious. Highly recommended!

My partner and I spent a wonderful 10 nights at the Malena hotel. The staff were by far the best part of this experience, they couldn’t help us any more than they did from the moment we arrived till check out. We dealt with 3 reception staff over the course of our stay, and they were so helpful, and even helped us to upgrade our room to one with a private pool mid stay for that extra VIP experience. Breakfast each day had multiple options and cooked fresh and topped up throughout service. Despite the mornings around 9/10 being so busy, staff worked hard on cleaning tables efficiently to seat more people. We thoroughly enjoyed the array of spreads for pancakes and croissants, the choice was amazing. Both our rooms were spacious, modern and cleaned daily. I’d say at absolute worst, there was a couple of things that could have been fixed within the room and around the hotel. But even so, we noticed handy men around the hotel doing their jobs continuously, so it was nothing worth mentioning as these minor things were fixed mostly. Cleaning staff were so kind and said hello each morning with a smile. There’s so much to do in the area, shops, tavernas (especially if you turn right out of the hotel). We would highly recommend booking a boat trip to dia island, which we did with the help of reception once again, and it was the highlight of our holiday. We can’t wait to stay here again, thank you to all the staff at Malena!

We had mixed feelings about this hotel. Firstly the surrounding area as others have mentioned the hotel is in a busy industrial area lots of main roads and loads of traffic. Its only 10/15 mins from Heraklion taxi €14 bus stops outside of the hotel and only €2 each way. Not much to do out and about… more

We had mixed feelings about this hotel. Firstly the surrounding area as others have mentioned the hotel is in a busy industrial area lots of main roads and loads of traffic. Its only 10/15 mins from Heraklion taxi €14 bus stops outside of the hotel and only €2 each way. Not much to do out and about there are a handful of tavernas but appeared to be very much for the locals. Pool area and hotel are lovely and clean the single sunbeds are clean but the pergola beds are quite dirty. Theres an area “gym” which is rather poor they have a separate shower in a wooden extension which can be used if you have a late flight (i really wouldn’t recommend it its awful) however we were charged €100 to keep our room on. After complaining we were given a discount of 10% (disgusting and put a real dampener on our final days stay). Food was good no entertainment and the “hotel music from breakfast time till mid-afternoon was mind numbing”. Staff were nice they tried their best and they all appeared to work very hard. There are a few little cats knocking about very sweet but annoying when it comes to food time. Rooms are clean but the jaccuzi was dirty and took up too much space on the balcony area. Overall the staff, pool and food saved the this hotel from 2 to 3.
