An absolutely perfect experience from start to finish! From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with great kindness, professionalism, and genuine care, which immediately made me feel comfortable. The setting is beautiful and truly conducive to relaxation and well-being. As for the massage, it was simply exceptional: delivered with great expertise, gentleness, and attention to my needs. Every movement was perfectly executed, and I left feeling completely relaxed and rejuvenated. We stayed 31/05 to 09/06. This resort has 148 rooms/“suites”. The site fronts on to the main road in Amoudara, about a mile outside Heraklion. There is a good range of shops tavernas and bars along this road. The site is narrow, in linear form leading down approximately 200 metres to a soft coarse sandy beach. The style is modernist/brutalist in whitewashed blocks incorporating common areas, pools and drought-tolerant planting. The atmosphere is relaxed and the ambiance modern. A feature of the layout are the “private pools” serving the junior suites. As the layout of the resort is linear, some of the private pools and their patios are overlooked by the main thoroughfares through the site, although those suites closest to the thoroughfares are screened by a low fence. Check in was quick and efficient, although more information about some services might have been useful. We stayed in a junior suite in a block (8000) with a shared private pool running next and parallel to the main walkway, thus we were open to passing guests. The room was comfortable, though not spacious, and in common with most modern designs, short on storage and basic in the bathroom. There are two restaurants. One, centrally located, serves buffet breakfasts and dinners. The other, “Armonia”,overlooking the beach, provides a “healthy option” buffet breakfast, and a la carte dinners – for which pre-booking is necessary. The food at both restaurants is very good, with a wide variety of local and international dishes in the buffet (although the food might have been hotter, especially as the opening hours went on). Delicious desserts! Excellent presentation marks the “Armonia” restaurant. The beach bar serves a good menu of snacks and light lunches during the day, and serves as the venue for entertainment in the evening. Service is provided to sunbeds/cabanas on the beach and by the two pools throughout the day. There are ample sunbeds on the beach and pool areas, and also a good number of cabanas (at no extra cost), and these latter facilities are usually popular (especially with the younger guests) and in higher demand. On the beach, only the “front row” seems to attract th0se who want to reserve their favourite spot. The sunbeds incorporate the thickest mattresses I’ve encountered anywhere. We learned mid-way through the week that the process for changing your towel is to attend at a certain spot (by the larger pool) at 10 or soon after to make the exchange. Activities are arranged for weekdays, an outdoor fitness area serving as the venue for pilates, stretching and general workout classes, which were led by an instructor clearly well qualified to lead appropriate sessions. The aquafit sessions were similarly led by the same professional and were most enjoyable. Entertainment in the evening is between the hours of 2100 to 2230 or thereabouts. Thereafter for a while some faint noises can be heard from a neighbouring hotel/disco, but this never disturbed us. Hats off to the management for providing some excellent musical entertainment in the evenings, some of which was of a kind that we’ve never experienced in any other holiday resort – jazz, a latin dance troupe, bazouki, and a violin night were significant highlights. The standard of service in all areas is very good. It is so uniformly excellent, that there is no need to single out any area or individual, as we only had to ask for something, and a member of the team would be immediately to our assistance. The management team were visible and approachable when we needed to raise some comment. Here, it is no mere formality to observe that “we came as guests and left as friends”.
