We had a lovely stay at the Petousis Hotel. The weather was still warm in the day but a bit chilly at night . We were told it was the end of the season so quiet and relaxed. Hotel was fab, everything you need and within easy walking distance of the beach and many restaurants and bars. Would definitely recommend. Stay was made all the better by our favourite bar man Georgio who catered to our every need 😊

I very much enjoyed staying for a week at the Petousis Hotel. I was upgraded from a superior room to a room with outdoor jacuzzi. I never thought I would value having a private jacuzzi but it really enhanced my experience! As the nights were a little chilly, I was able to relax and warm up in the evenings which I loved. The service was excellent too. I asked for 1 hr extension on the check-out time which was granted without fuss, and they also offer early continental breakfast in case you need to go out early in the morning. The only aspect here that could be improved was the directions to my room could have been clearer and the signage could be easier to see or larger. It was a little difficult to find the correct entrance to the block where my room was as the hotel comprises multiple buildings. The room was modern and spacious. The wifi was very good throughout and complimentary bottles of water were provided in the room on arrival (but not replaced during the stay). The shower was OK, except that sometimes the hot water didn't work (but then would work an hour later...). I thought the bed was not very comfortable, too hard and lacking support for my liking. However, the soundproofing was adequate, housekeeping was good and the room always looked clean. There was a wide selection of food at the buffet breakfast, although I did not find the quality of the hot food to be particularly good. The yoghurt, cheese and salads were nice though. I liked the hotel restaurant next door (as do the locals judging by how busy it was most nights), with large portions of tasty, uncomplicated food. Although the gym was small, it had a good selection of equipment, and the swimming pool looked nice even though I did not use it. The hotel is located near the beach, apprpoximately 5 minutes' walk away. To go into Heraklion by bus, the stop is across the road from the hotel and you can buy cheaper bus tickets from the supermarket opposite the hotel, which was convenient. Unfortunately the bus only comes every 30 mins during low season, but perhaps this is different in the summer. Nevertheless, it's about 20 minutes's ride into town, which was fine for me. It's far enough from Heraklion to feel quite quiet, but not so far to make it difficult to go into the city. I thought the hotel was excellent value for money considering the overall quality of rooms, facilities and service. Overall a very nice hotel with only minor criticisms!

“Overall really good”

Hotel very clean and good facilities, staff helpful and friendly. We stayed in room 504 and the room is of a very good standard, cleaners keep it very clean, the bed is really comfy and a super king bed with excellent mattress. Shower is also excellent. Private pool nice however absolutely freezing… more

Hotel very clean and good facilities, staff helpful and friendly. We stayed in room 504 and the room is of a very good standard, cleaners keep it very clean, the bed is really comfy and a super king bed with excellent mattress. Shower is also excellent. Private pool nice however absolutely freezing. The only downside to the hotel is the food, and by that I mean the buffet, not the restaurant which is very good. We found breakfast catered more for the German pallet than the British. Also we dined at the evening buffet once and really didn't like it.

We stayed at Petousis Hotel & Suites for 10 days in March/April and overall had a nice stay, even though there were a few things that could have been better. The hotel is about 10–12 minutes outside the city center, but the area itself is great with supermarkets, tavernas and restaurants within walking distance. The hotel also has its own restaurant with really good local food that’s definitely worth trying. Breakfast was varied and good, with something for everyone. The staff were consistently very friendly and helpful, which made the stay more enjoyable. It was easy to find the reception, and a big plus is the large amount of free parking available 24/7. The rooms are spacious, and it’s nice that you can book rooms with a jacuzzi. Cleaning was decent when it was done. As for the downsides, there was some dust in the room here and there, and a few things felt a bit makeshift, like a shower holder fixed with zip ties. The air conditioning didn’t work properly outside of season and only blew warm air, which made the nights pretty uncomfortable. The rooms are also not well insulated, so you can hear quite a lot from the hallway and neighboring rooms. We had a locked connecting door to the room next door, and the last few nights there was quite a bit of noise late at night. The WiFi was also quite unstable during our stay. Since we traveled outside of season, we didn’t really get to use the pool or beach due to the weather, but it looks like a really nice place in the summer. Overall: A nice and modern hotel in a good area, with very friendly staff and good facilities. At the same time, there are a few things that bring the experience down, especially when it comes to comfort and technical solutions outside of season. We would consider staying here again in peak season, but with some improvements this could easily be a top hotel.
