This place is easily the best place we've ever stayed in Crete (and we've stayed in a few) When we first arrived, at stupid O'clock in the morning, Nikos was there waiting for us. He showed us to our room and said that the bar was still open if we wanted a beer. Well after a long day of travelling, this was very welcome. We actually indulged in more than 1 or 2, and toddled back to our room at about 3am !! The hospitality continued for our entire stay, both Nikos & his brother Makis are really the most amazing hosts. Nothing is too much trouble, and they are hilarious, bouncing off each other and including the guests in the jokes. Mamas cooking is amazing!! Her Carbonara is the best I've ever tasted, she cooks for the family every day & makes a little extra to put on specials on the menu for the guests. The Pastitsio is a must try, if you get chance. The menu is very good, a great selection, without being too big, everything we tried was homemade and very tasty. The room was great, fridge, kettle, toaster 2 ring hob, hairdryer etc. we were on the bottom floor, so the terrace looked out onto the courtyard. Have to mention Maria the young lady who cleaned the rooms, she was around every day with fresh towels, making the beds, and cleaning the room. The pool area was kept clean and tidy and there was always plenty of sun loungers. It's a short walk to the strip or the old town far enough away to not be disturbed by the party people (although, we travelled in October, so it wasn't busy) The whole vibe of Danelis is No Stress, we spent most of our evenings around the well stocked pool bar, laughing and chatting with other guests, and of course Nikos & Makis, the relaxed friendly atmosphere makes you feel like you've known these people for years, it's honestly bizarre!! All in all, this is a great little place to stay, we enjoyed it so much that we arrived home in the UK at 4am in the morning, 4pm the same day we've re-booked for April!! It really is, that good !!!

Fantastic location, 5 minutes walking distance to everything you need yet set in peacefull surroundings. Danelis is so unique, I've never stayed anywhere where so much thought has gone into a building and its amenities. The pool area, stunning, ample room for all guests to have a sunbed without being on top of one another, so clean, and we'll layer out, with toilets and a shower room. Poolside bar/snack bar, many a late night had at the bar with so much laughter ( can't wait to go again). The food, all freshly made, all hand made and I enjoyed everything I ate, from full English to toasties, omelette, burgers and pizza, best I'd had. Rooms, traditional and kept spotless, beds made and rooms cleaned on a daily bases. Large balcony with views of fields and in the background the sea. The owner, Makis, what a host, exceptional, with his brother Nikos, family and all the staff just so friendly, your actually mafe to feel like part of the family. For us, it was like having a holiday with a group of old friends. The warmth and friendliness rubs of on everyone. Love the place, and every greek island need a Danelis!!! I will be going back, so see you soon.

From the moment we arrived at Danilis we relaxed.....its nothing you can put your finger on....just a sense of calm and welcoming. You are treated as one of the family & nothing is too much bother. Brothers, Makis & Nikos, the owners, are hilarious, a true double act who will keep you laughing with their 'one liners' Rooms are comfortable with more than enough space for us..... Don't get me wrong, it's not 5* ....the rooms could do with some tlc, but it is the end of the season. The communal patio areas are superb, very comfortable & the pool is stunning, so clean. Breakfast was delicious, especially reccomend the Cretan Breakfast.

No complaints, just not quite right for us. The hosts are friendly without bothering you too much...they would sit and talk or just say hello if you were going somewhere. The rooms were large enough, with most things provided but maybe lacked a thorough cleaning of things such as cutlery, crockery and toaster etc. We chose not to use cooking equipment, just the kettle for a brew. The room we stayed in had 2 single beds in the bedroom and a bunk bed with another single bed in the lounge area...if possible, maybe a sofa bed would be better. We had no screen around the shower so water went everywhere...not ideal but manageable if a bit messy. We did have a nice size balcony for the morning brew and winding down later on. The apartments are close enough to the beach, once you find the short-cuts, and well situated for both the main area and the old town. Would we recommend...for those looking for somewhere just to relax ,yes. Would we stay again...probably not, no major issues, just not quite right for us. We understand that this is a family run place and wish them all the success in the future.
