We really enjoyed our stay at Santa Marina Plaza in Agia Marina. Perfectly located at the shore of Agia Marina. The hotel has a nice pool with sunchairs, as well as a private beach with sunchairs. It was never a problem finding sunchairs. It seems like there are plenty of them compared to the number of guests, also when the hotel is quite full. The service was top, and the staff was very friendly and professional. Always helpful with accomodating requests from guests. It really set the atmosphere for our vacation. This is a peaceful oasis in an otherwise hectic beach in Agia Marina/Platanias. The hotel is located perfectly by the Agia Marina Beach. This part of the beach has really nice sand. You will find a Mega Synka Supermarked and taxi company just outside the hotel. There are also nice resturants, beach club resturant, bars, and ice cream bars close by. Breakfast was tasteful with good variety of food. The lunch in the pool bar was fantastic. Perfect when you are spending your days by the pool and at the beach. The Pizza was great, and is served at lunch and room service. We did not try dinner at the hotel this time. But it was good based on previous experence. We stayed the 2 first nights in a room by the pool. The room was spacious with a large bathroom. The TV was small. Worth mentioning since it was World Cup. The location of the room was nice. You could walk straight out to the pool. We upgraded to a seafront view room during our stay. This room had a fantastic view, updated balcony with glass railing. It also had a updated new 42" TV. The bathroom was smaller than the previous room, but still nice. Some might find the furnitures in the rooms a bit dated. But the hotel is generally well maintained. It seems like they have made an real effort to keep this hotel nice and maintained. The cleanliness of the rooms and public areas was really good. All the staff is doing a fantastic job. It seems like they enjoy working there. The massage service was also great. We will for sure return to this hotel soon.

“Fantastic spot right on the beach”

We chose this hotel as it offered a beautiful location right on the beach - it truly was gorgeous - and they offered fair pricing for sole travellers (we travelled with both our Mums who had a room each). We arrived around 11.20 p.m. to be told that the air con in one of the rooms wasn't working, so one of our group had to stay in a different room in the hotel overnight and then move the following morning. This seems to line up with some of the other reviews where rooms are not ready. Our room was ground floor with a gorgeous seaview (113). It was extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean, with the towels changed twice a day. The shower head does seem to have a life of its own, but otherwise we wanted for nothing. The view from the beach bar/ pool area is everything you would hope for. You can hear and see the waves, and the beach is a dozen strides away. Maybe a couple of observations: perhaps the drinks prices were a little on the high side and one or two of the meals were a bit hit and miss. Oddly enough, there are no toilets at the beach bar, which means that you have to go back to your room or to reception and down a floor to get to the nearest facilities. The beach is just lovely with crystal clear water, plenty of sunbeds and a great view of Thodorou island. The selection at breakfast was excellent, as was the service. Reception was very helpful. We asked about taxis and to change euros into smaller denominations and they were happy to help. Chania is easy to reach by taxi, as is Platanias, the next 'village' along, which is very much nicer than the main street in Aghios Marina. We all agreed that the hotel was a little tired in terms of decor and others we spoke to who had been before agreed that it was time for a lick of paint and some refreshing of the rooms. This is very minor though, and did not detract from our enjoyment of the place. Kevin the barman kept the beach bar open for us on that first night, which we were very grateful for as there was no food on offer, and his service throughout the holiday was brilliant. We must also thank the incredibly helpful Niki, Argiro, Justin and Haris who are huge asset to the hotel along with the fantastic cleaning team. Thank you to all concerned, we came home relaxed and well-rested!
