We have just returned from an amazing 7 night stay at the Iberostar Selection Creta Marine From arriving at around 21.30 we were met and dealt with promptly by the reception staff - for the ladies there were red roses and for all 4 of us there was a welcome glass of fizz - we were offered Lobby seating to complete our paperwork whilst our cases were taken care of by the staff. Paperwork complete we were offered a great update on orientation of the hotel, offered our room keys and pool towel cards, and then was transported by staff in the hotel buggie to our 2 bungalow rooms - where our cases were already in our relevant rooms. We were all inclusive guests and because we had missed the evening buffet sandwiches and crisps were delivered to our rooms - really lovely gesture on our late arrival. The staff member then explained clearly how everything in the room worked - lighting - air conditioning etc. The rooms were spotless and spacious - the beds were comfy and the minibar was well stocked along with great tea and coffee making facilities - plenty of coat hangers - robes and slippers and the most important for the ladies a powerful hairdryer 😍 Being all inclusive the buffet restaurant is the main area, the food at breakfast lunch and dinner was amazing - themed fish and Chinese evenings with sushi, roast duck all done to perfection. There is something for everyone and nothing is too much trouble for the staff and they are constantly filling up all the time. Drinks are served to your table and the plates are cleared quickly and efficiently- excellent service - with the waiters and waitresses super friendly. The hotel is spotless everywhere and the bar areas too - you select your seat and the staff wait on you - no standing at the bar 😍 There are 3 pools - the main one having a swim up bar - this is a salt water pool and is very cold out of season - possible heating should be considered. The sun-beds are well cushioned and comfortable - the animation team offer lots of water activities and games - please join them - it is fun. We had the option of eating at 2 à la carte restaurants out of 3 whilst there and chose the Italian and Mediterranean- please don’t miss the Mediterranean one the food was amazing - small supplement to pay on some main dishes but well worth it. Both restaurants offered the full range of starters like a tasting menu 😍 The sister hotel is currently being refurbished so the entertainment room is rather small and indoor - will be much better when outdoor again . The evening entertainment needs more work - few more quality external acts would be better for this for this level of hotel. The location of this hotel is about 20 mins in a taxi - 27 euros - to Rethymnon - worth a trip out lots of bars restaurants, shops and beautiful harbour, - hotel reception can organise the taxis for you. If you are looking for a relaxing week in a spotless hotel - then book this you won’t be disaspointec

Fantastic 7 night holiday here in a Bungalow Waterfront Sharing Pool room. Check-in: You’re welcomed by the sound of water gushing out the fountain in the lobby of reception. Upon arrival you are invited to take a seat, offered a glass of fizz and a cold towel whilst you fill in the necessary forms. Once you have finished your forms, you and your luggage are whisked away on a buggy and given a tour of the seat on the way to your room. Our room was down some steps and our cases were helpfully taken down there and placed in our room. The Room: The room itself is of high standard and the showpiece is the private decking area which, in our case, gave us a lovely view of the sunset on an evening. It has plentiful amenities such as coffee machine, mini bar, kettle, TV etc. Unfortunately there was a bit of a downpour on our final night, which resulted in water coming under the door and running into the room and pooling. Thankfully we had some towels to clean this up, but it appeared to happen to the room across who had also stacked towels at the door like a flood defence - this is a minor blot on the whole experience. Atmosphere: It’s a friendly atmosphere all-round, with a nice relaxing vibe. Members of staff try to cajole you into taking part in activities around the pool, which is sometimes an irritant if you want to relax. It was incredibly peaceful down by the seafront however and was very tranquil at all times of day. All members of staff were incredibly helpful and creating a good atmosphere throughout. Pools: There are plenty of pools on the grounds. The staff do a great job of ensuring that sunbeds aren’t reserved, which is greatly received given the majority German populous!! Food: The food was great. Travelling with someone with an allergy (gluten) is always extremely difficult, but everything was labelled up and we were able to speak to the chef for specific dishes making i.e. gluten free pizza. In the main buffet restaurants, this is let down by the fact that often the allergen cards weren’t placed directly next to what food was on offer, so it was a guessing game at times. If you stay all inclusive (as we did), for a 7 night stay you have the opportunity to dine at 2 or the 3 restaurants on site. We first chose the Italian, which was a little disappointing in terms of quality. The gluten free pizza was the exact same as what we had at the buffet and nothing else was of any perceived elevated quality. This was okay for us, but I would have been disappointed if we were half-board and needed to pay for this. We chose the Mediterranean restaurant on our final night. This was a much more premium experience, but was disappointing from an allergy perspective. Although clearly labelled up, both gluten free items we had ordered had changed and now contained gluten, so we had to change what we ordered. The restaurant itself was in a lovely location and of much better quality. Check Out: We were gutted to leave when our stay was over. We let reception know the day prior of when we would like to leave and they organised somebody to collect our bags and take the buggy bag to reception, which took a matter of minutes. We were unfortunately tried to be rushed out of our room by the cleaner 2hrs prior to check out, which again was rather annoying - every other day throughout the week we were lucky if our room was cleaned by 2pm - again, very minor.
