My wife, our two-year-old daughter and I visited the resort at the end of July. Initially, what struck me was how friendly and helpful the reception team were. We were taken to our junior suite, which was well presented and clean; and kept clean by friendly, competent and flexible cleaning staff. A few things stood out to us. First, was Suzanna, who worked in the restayurant. She was incredibly kind to our daughter and a genuinely nice person, and she made us feel very welcome. The high-quality food only added to the expertience she created. Second, both my wife and I used the spa. I had a massage from Cheryl who was very professional, really friendly and gave a great massage. Our impression of the spa was very good. Finally, the bar manager in the top bar was not only always very friendly, but very good at making cocktails! If I was to provide some constructive feedback, there would be three things: (1) on one occasion, a member of the bar team, who was clearly stressed, essentially asked me to get on with making my order, rather than asking how he was, which I felt was a bit disrespectful - something to wary of as I assume they would rather customers are pleasant; (2) it may be worth investing in some proper filter coffee or an espresso machine in the main restaurant, as the machine used does cheapen the experience somewhat - however, I do recognise that I value good coffee and others may not; (3) the pools were particularly cold - even increasing these a few degrees, would significantly improve the experience. I would rather have paid a bit more and have enjoyed using the pools a little more. However, this resort doesn't deserve less than five stars. The facilities are good, the food is brilliant and the staff are fantastic. I would definitely recommend.

We took a last-minute trip to Michelangelo Resort & Spa and spent a lovely week there at the end of July. We travelled as a family of four with our daughters, aged 6 and 8. Before booking, I understood that Michelangelo is more of an adult-focused resort, so my initial concerns were whether it would be too quiet for the kids, what the kids’ club would be like, and whether there would be enough entertainment. We also care a lot about the food and, of course, the overall atmosphere and facilities. We usually choose all-inclusive holidays but prefer not to eat at a buffet every meal. The resort has two à la carte restaurants that you can each book once during your stay, plus a special breakfast experience. While it was lovely to sit down and be served, the buffet actually ended up being our favourite. The à la carte meals didn’t quite live up to our expectations, whereas the buffet was consistently good, with plenty of variety at dinner. Breakfast was the same each morning but offered enough choice that we didn’t mind. My biggest praise goes to Victoria at the kids’ club. She is absolutely wonderful! The kids’ club itself is quite small, but she runs it like a true professional and is so warm, engaging and genuinely caring. My daughters adored spending time with her doing arts and crafts, games and activities. I think all of us, including Victoria, shed a tear when it was time to say goodbye. She truly made our holiday extra special. I also loved that the kids’ club is located right next to the main pool, making it easy for the children to come and go throughout the day. The pool area is stunning and was one of the highlights of the resort. We stayed in a Sea View Junior Suite, which we absolutely loved. The room was spacious, modern and had beautiful views. The shower mixer was a little unpredictable and it could be tricky to find the perfect water temperature, but the water pressure was good and it certainly wasn’t a major issue. Neither of our TVs worked during the stay, but honestly, that’s not why you come here. The beach was another pleasant surprise. We had read comments about the rocky shoreline, but we didn’t find it to be a problem at all. It was lovely to stroll down to the beach in the afternoon for a swim and a drink at the beach bar. It became one of our favourite little rituals during the holiday. The evening entertainment was probably the area where the resort fell a little short for us. One evening there was a DJ playing great music, and we all ended up dancing, which was a lot of fun. Most other evenings featured different duos performing mainly ‘90s songs. While they were talented, it wasn’t particularly engaging for us or for the children. The gym was another area that was a bit hit and miss. We like to work out while on holiday, and I was pleasantly surprised to see a rowing machine. Unfortunately, although it worked, the resistance adjustment didn’t, which limited the experience. Three of the treadmills were also frequently out of order during our stay. The selection of free weights was a little odd, starting at 2.5 kg and then jumping straight to 7 kg, so it seemed as though some of the dumbbells were missing. There were no barbells or other strength equipment, just dumbbells. It definitely left a bit to be desired, but a workout is still a workout, and we managed just fine. The staff throughout the hotel were friendly and welcoming. Before arriving, I wondered whether parts of the resort might feel a little dated, but that really wasn’t the case. There are a few small details that could be refreshed, but overall they have done a great job with the refurbishment. The rooms and pool area, in particular, are beautiful. Overall, we had a fantastic week and would happily recommend Michelangelo Resort & Spa to friends and family looking for a relaxing holiday. Although it is definitely more peaceful than a typical family resort, our children had a wonderful time, thanks in no small part to the fantastic kids’ club. We would happily return.
