“Typical 4 star”

First of all location is perfect. Right on the beach , right in the middle of the town and 5 mins taxi ride to Argostolee, which was also lovely. We had a sea view room which had everything we needed. Was very clean when we arrived but daily clean wasn’t the best. We stayed b & b and breakfast was lovely and plentiful. We loved sitting outside for breakfast on the terrace but was told off one day for sitting at a table for 4 when there was only 2 of us. Plenty of others did the same and one morning we were taken to. 4 table! Can’t comment on the pool area as we loved the beach. The lady at the beach in charge of beds was really lovely. Just a little walk to get to or lift if you have mobility issues. Staff were ok but not overly pleasant or friendly. There was some sort of bridge tournament going on, but all in a separate room but mostly of a certain age. We didn’t eat evening meal once in the hotel as there were lots of lovely restaurants on the main rd. I think there was entertainment 2 nights in hotel during a weeks stay but didn’t go to it. “Great hotel right in the beach”

Great location in lassi right next to beach. We were here early in the season so for the first two or three nights in the main strip there weren’t many restaurants open but that changed as the week went on. Great location in lassi right next to beach. We were here early in the season so for the first two or three nights in the main strip there weren’t many restaurants open but that changed as the week went on. Staff were lovely although due to a “Bridge” group who had reserved seating in the restaurant it was sometimes difficult to seat 3 at peak breakfast times & we didn’t book for evening meal as I am not a lover of “buffet style” food. Taxis wait outside the hotel for those wanting to visit the island, Argostoli €8 takes 5 mins. There is a steep hill from the hotel to the main lassi strip but a bar half way up can break the climb. We met loads of returning guests who have been using this hotel for many years, and although a little dated is still very popular.

“Good overall”

Rooms are a good standard and sheets are changed daily. Balcony faces the car park/mountains or pool/sea Tree are plenty of places to sit both inside and outside. The hotel is very disability friendly with ramps and lifts - even as far as the beach. Sun beds at the pool are free but cost at the bea… more

Food choice is OK but limited There is a small supermarket on site but it is mire expensive than ones on the main road

“Miserable Staff”

This hotel is not 4 star, which is annoying in Greece as the tourist tax is based on the star rating of the hotel, in this case it’s €70 a week. This hotel is not 4 star, which is annoying in Greece as the tourist tax is based on the star rating of the hotel, in this case it’s €70 a week. I’ll start with the rooms and the fact there were holes in the bath towels and that the bath fills up with brown scummy water as it doesn’t drain properly so seems to drag up whatever is sitting in the pipes. The walls are thin, you can hear doors shutting, plugs being pulled in and out of the wall etc. There were several instances of doors banging early hours of the morning. The hotel attracts visitors of a senior age so I highly doubt it was them coming back from an evening tearing up the local tavernas. The hairdryer is one of those hot air blowing things attached to the wall. The wardrobes are directly opposite a wall, with just enough room to open the door. The rooms are very small, our double room was just two single beds pushed together. My husband slipped between the beds on several occasions. I didn’t sleep properly the whole holiday. There was no iron in the room but we did have a fridge and a safe that had an actual key. Not sure the point of a key you either have to leave that in the room with the safe or keep taking it out with you. There’s a telephone in the room, it doesn’t work. The room has aircon, we took our chances with the door open as the aircon just seemed to suck the moisture out of the air. We were bed and breakfast. Breakfast was plentiful and varied. There was a constant queue for coffee until half way through the week they decided to bring out a second set of machines. Hurray! On the subject of breakfast, the staff at this hotel are unfriendly. They do not speak unless spoken to with the exception of one or two. They stand militantly in the breakfast hall observing with stoney faces. It is not a welcoming atmosphere at all. One morning another guest approached us with two bottles of water. She was leaving so asked if we would like them. We thanked her and placed them on our table. We left to get another coffee, returned and there was a member of staff standing at our table. You cannot open those. I informed him I wasn’t intending to, I will take them to the room. Good he said, you cannot open those in here. I repeated that I will be taking them to the room but he continued to look at me so I then had to explain the whole story to him to which he then said yes, I didn’t see you bring them in but you can’t have them in case of an inspection ( I’ve no idea what this meant) so I reassured him AGAIN that they were going up to our room. What a massive fuss over absolutely nothing. The people next to us were in disbelief and were so kind in chatting to us about it to make us feel better. On the subject of staff, they all really need to try harder. Try smiling, try greeting guests in a friendly smiley manner, try making conversation, anything! I’ve been holidaying on various Greek islands for years and never had such an experience. I think there was entertainment twice during our stay. We did try to attend one evenings entertainment but someone was smoking on the terrace constantly and it was just billowing into my face so we left. I can honestly say hand on heart I will never return to this hotel. It spoiled my holiday, it almost destroyed my genuine love for Greek people but thankfully in other villages that usual Greek hospitality was alive and well so restored my faith that it was in fact just the hotel and possibly Lassi to be fair. I urge you to look at other hotels in the area. Beaches are plentiful in Kefalonia, you don’t need to go to this hotel for that reason. It certainly has nothing else going for it!
