We just came back from our second vacation and stay at Archontiko Maisonnettes. This truly is a hidden jewel ! The location in “Katastari” village is on the side of a hill with amazing view of the Ionian Sea and the best climate of the whole island. The maisonnettes are very authentic and beautifully restored keeping the charm and character of the 18th century – the whole resort is under monumental protection. If you are looking for a relaxed vacation in a rustic Greek family environment you will for sure enjoy your stay. Anybody who, even for vacation, needs a 5* hotel with lots of extravagant extras will not find this type of luxury here. The equipment of the maisonnettes is traditional and simple yet you will find everything you need to spend a calm and relaxed family vacation. The rooms are cleaned every day and towels/sheets every third day. The pool is well maintained and clean with enough sunbeds for any guest throughout the day. The bar is small but adequate with a nice relaxed atmosphere and fairly priced. The menu is limited with a nice choice of great salads and selected traditional Greek food. Special meals can be prepared home made on individual order. The village road passing outside the property is not very busy, especially at night; for sure, the chirping of cicadas is more noisy. In summary we were looking for a nice calm place to spend our vacation and we found not only a true hidden jewel but also adorable Greek hospitality making us feel being part of the family – our second home ! Thank you again Mary, Stefan & Dimitris for the fantastic stay and time with you at Archontiko. We are already looking into flight bookings for next year and cannot wait to seeing you all again ! We will come back !!

“Never want to come home!!!”

Yet another amazing holiday at the most beautiful Archontiko. We go on several holidays a year but none ever match up to this, and a holiday year is not complete without a visit. Yet another amazing holiday at the most beautiful Archontiko. We go on several holidays a year but none ever match up to this, and a holiday year is not complete without a visit. Nothing is to much trouble for Mary, Dimitris and family- and that is just how they treat there guests - just like family. The accommodation is Greek!! And that is what makes it so special. It is hard to find places like this anymore. A personal service in unspoilt surroundings. There is no microwave or dishwasher in the rooms but if you want that go somewhere else, the sort of place you need to put your towels on sunbeds at 6am to get a spot - and listen to loud music all day and eat plastic burgers and drink watered down alcohol. Not here!!!! The cleaning is done by Dina and we always have a lovely clean maisonette to come home to she works so hard. This is a place for sitting by the pool switching off , reading and relaxing. No mobiles, no sports TV. Pure peace. The snack bar is there to be used around the pool a small menu but cooked by Mary or Dimitris. If you want something they will do their best to get it for you. Dimitris milkshakes are practically pure ice- cream - the prices are reasonable for the quality given. There are no restrictions on using inflatables etc in the pool. However, I think they should put a notice up by the pool asking guest not to bring their own food and drink to this area. I have read another review and can’t believe that guest would do that when there are balconies and lovely sitting areas around the accommodation areas. The location and views are perfect - but it is a steep walk back at night. It’s too hot to do the walk up in the day. We can’t wait until next year

“Family room with swimming pool in a fair price ”

Nice and Kind hospitality, rooms are clean and you have all the equipment in a small kitchen. The room in the 1st floor was very small also the bath. The pool is amazing with nice view. The price per night is fair and lower compared to other locations. It has free parking, wifi and breakfast.

If you were a fan of the Durrells then you will love this Greek hideaway. This is our 4th visit to Alykes and we love it but thought we would try different accommodation which we were not disappointed with. It's very quirky to say the least. Our accommodation was a 2 storey maisonettes with a spiral staircase so if you arn't sure with managing this there are single storey apartments. We had a lovely view over the bay of Alykes and apart from being on a main road the traffic didn't bother us. We watched the sunrise every morning which was spectacular so we were very happy. The accommodation was cleaned every day and sheets changed 2-3 times in our stay which was only 10 days, there is a little poolside bar and a lovely pool not huge but sufficient for us. Lots of cats and dogs which are friendly. Now the only downside is there is no restaurant up here apart from pool bar where you can get food and only a couple of basic supermarkets also it's abit of a walk to the beach 20-25mins downhill which isn't too bad but a lot harder coming back up and as my husband and I are in our 60's we decided to hire a scooter from the town which has solved that problem. I would recommend this holiday to anyone who loves a traditional Greek holiday away from the busy town but not too far to go out for the beach and evening meals there is a large selection of restaurants in town with variety of food from 3 courses to pizza and the food standards are very high. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in Alykes and I'm sure we will be back for 5 th time. Happy Holidays yammas!!
