Our trip to Kefalonia was very spontaneous. We booked hotel and plane tickets before our main treap which was to the main land. It turned out as a very right thing. The island is very green with lost of outstanding beaches. Air is filled with sweet pune smell. People are very kind and helpfull. We really enjoyed our trip. We arrived very late evening and had to drive rented car to the other part of the island. The guy from pefanis car rental company helped us to get to petrol station and drove us to the main road so we wouldnt get lost. As we arrived to villa Demitris the villa owner was waitig for us and offered us some homemade limonade kindly made by his mother. He showed us absolutly outstanding apartment. We ordered the cheapest room(there is everything you need in the room from kitchen to fan) but he upgraded it free of charge for much bigger one for 2 days of our stay. We stayed there for 3 nights. In the morning we did check in and Demitrus offered us some vegetables from his garden. I made some nice salad for our tea:) We also tried some homemade vine:) Demitris also suggested some plases to see on the island. I would recommend to visit xi and petania beaches. The Assos town is a hidden pearl on the island. We would definetly come back. Thank you for your hospitality Demitris.

I have to first off say that the welcome we received from Demitri made us feel special. Demitri is a genuine great and very helpful man. We were given fresh figs and homemade lemonade when we arrived. They hit the spot, because it was very warm weather and after travelling most part of our morning and afternoon it was so refreshing. Demitri found out we didn't drive and said he was going in to Lixouri and he would take us to the supermarket so we could get provisions in. What a gem. The villa us just a short walk away from Kounpetra beach. Beautiful location. The sea is turquoise blue. You can walk out for about a quarter mile with out it being too deep. Great for a dip to cool down. The sunbeds are 5 euros for 2 which pays for the whole day! There is a small seating area above the beach where you can buy drinks and icecream to quench your thirst and cool down. This place is a must for rest and relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. We will definitely be back. Thanks Demitri for helping make our holiday and also for explaining local history.

Most beautiful, peaceful and quiet place. No pool party or happy hour. Friendly owner Dimitris. When you want to spend time with your love, this is your choise. If you want to swim, the sandy beach is 150 meters away. We took ferry from Nidri (Lefkada) to Fiskardo, and drive one and half hour with scooter. Will spent here at least two nights and promise, we will be back!

“Gem of a place”

Kounopetra is an out-of-the-way location on the southerly tip of the western peninsula on Cephalonia. It is about an hour's drive from the airport. But what a beautiful drive that is, albeit a little nerve-wracking in places. And when you arrive at Villa Carina, you smile at yourself for having chosen something typically Greek, rather than an anonymous hotel. Dimitris greets you with a glass of lemonade, before showing you to your room. Our room was functional, but in a loving way, and Dimitris remained as welcoming and helpful for the entirety of our stay as he did on our first arrival. Villa Carina are traditional Greek studios - eight rooms, with no bar, no pool, and all the better for it. Here you can truly relax. You can walk 150m to the local beach (Kounopetra Beach), but we preferred to drive to Xi Beach 10 minutes up the coast. We also drove to Petani Beach on one day - about 40 minutes (on the local roads, which are not great!), and can highly recommend a visit to this stunning location (make sure you take beach shoes with you though). Nearest supermarket is an ex-Carrefour just south of Lixouri (about 10 minutes from Villa Carina), although I would recommend a supermarket in Lixouri itself (on Grigoriou Lampraki, near the Summery Hotel). Both accept cards, including pre-pay currency cards. Top tip would be to do the full drive from the airport to Villa Carina when you arrive (just over an hour), but when you return to the airport take the ferry from Lixouri to Argostoli (about the same time door to door, but a lot less stressful!).
