“Superb Villa and even better Host!”

Great location, wonderful host and lovely villa. We stayed for a week in the purple villa, the pool was great, very warm and with a great view. The walk down to the caves is reasonably steep but easy enough and is great for accessing the cave, kayaks and swimming in the sea, we were even provided snorkelling equipment to use! The host Giorgos was excellent, we got to drink the wine he makes, eat the olives he grew and eat fruit picked on the estate. He helped us everyday, you honestly couldn’t hope for a more welcoming or accommodating host. The shops and restaurants near by give you a good variety of places to eat, and are either good or excellent. Couldn’t recommend these villas enough, will definitely be back

Wow what a wonderful week in Villa Fantasia at BCV. The previous few reviews have largely said it all in painting a detailed view of what to expect and facilities at this lovely location. Pre arrival communications were handled very promptly and helpfully by Monica - thank you. As a family of 4 with two teenagers we are usually up and out very active but the tranquility at BCV along with the warm, crystal clear sea at the bottom of the cliffs, the infinity pool, loungers and hammock(hours of mesmerising stargazing), kept us satisfied to stay local. We happened to arrive at grape harvest and Giorgos the owner who is just a delightful gentleman invited us to help with the grape stamping and juice collecting which was a special and (hippy alert !) earth connecting experience (but it was). Giorgios arranged a private boat hire for us taking us to shipwreck cove, the blue caves and with ample time to drop anchor at secluded coves and snorkel. We hardly visit anywhere twice but will be making an exception for Blue cave Villas.

Beautiful. Peaceful. Unspoilt but spoiling. Modern well equipped villas, spotlessly clean, well appointed modern and built sympathetically into a hillside each has commanding views of the sea. Spotless salty water infinity pool on which one perches and gazes endlessly out to the blue, blue sea stretching far away, the sunrise and to the left Cephalonia, and the right the Peloponnese. A freshwater shower. More than enough sun beds. A view over the vineyard, fig and olive trees framed by blue. Figs that Giorgios delivers, olives that he presses and the oil waits for you in bottles, grapes that he picks for wine and leaves some in your fridge as well as dried oregano and wine from the vineyard. An outdoor gym down the hill and then precipitous steps without many handholds down to a sunbathing area (not for the infirm - we found steps to the right of Big Blue Villa which felt easier) and then a rock at the bottom topped with a slab of concrete, a step over a shallow rock or two and one is plunged deep bubbling into the refreshing crystal blue lapping sea, bobbing up and down as boats pass you taking tourists to that which is on your doorstep. For the intrepid one can tombstone just by the bluecaves.gr sign and then up the ladder inside the cave (at your own risk!) A stroke or two to the Villa’s 4 sea kayaks and canoes and then a shared trip to the caves - laughing and lapping up the never ending sun - up and down the coast or a short swim to the closest cave with snorkel, masks and fins provided - no canoe needed. Climb up on the right side of the jetty as one looks at it from the sea, footholds in the rock, rising with the swell, stepping up - waiting for the waves or go into the cave and up the ladder. Climbing back up to the Villa- well stepping back up - the pool, sun and Blue Villas wine and then retreat to air conditioned comfortable beds away from it all, shuttters open ready to greet the 6.25am gloaming - peach red sunrise perfusing the netted curtain window, blues merge with pinks and greens of the groves - magical silent awakenings....light whitening the day still cool in your coccoon. Giorgios - host - laid back - weathered, smiling welcoming but serious about you having the good time that you want - what you want. Fiercely proud of this sympathetic heaven on Zante that he’s built. Keen to help, no line in for the stereo? Small Bluetooth speakers provided. Then Monika getting us the line in for the stereo and organising cleaning keeping our gorgeous villa clean - thank you Jenny Order delivery Food from Orividoes with menus in your villa or ask Giorgios for the local family that will cook local rabbit, vegetables for you or pop in the oven or finalised for you. Agios Nikolaos is a bit of a touts’ port - selling trips to the Blue Caves that are a swim away for you in the Blue Cave Villas, or an hour’s speedboat to the Shipwreck beach. Two minimarkets with hilarious prices but worth it for the odd veg or bread - otherwise you may be tempted to drive to AB or Lidl (look for the WineGarage opposite AB as one leaves town) where the owner keeps wine properly in this heat - wonderful Greek rosé to make provençale Whispering Angel in the minimarket blush at their price(we recommend the Idylle). Three lovely restaurants close Nikaloas - Nebulos, do book- huge starters and delicious, on the left as one drives out of Nikolaos with car park on the right - loads of Brits from the Pelligoni, further out on the left is Orivodores who deliver - and we would order two or three meals at once and then do nothing- save for swim, jog and canoe. The other recommendation is more café-ish - drive on to the slab as one exits Nikolaos driving to Zante town, drive across the concrete dock all the way to the end and there is Matrokos, opposite Nebulos and less than half the price also with its tiny beach. Gorgeous, more Greek and mention Giorgios’ name. Drive the dirt track the other way and you’ll come to the lighthouse cafe. Most stop for the view but a chill meal to be had. Then, as ever back to your villa. Issues - if I had to search for one the. It would be a bigger sheet for the bed as it came untucked!! But that’s way minor. The spa jet was Not fixed. But more figs and chilled chat from Giorgios. Not an issue. Did we like it? No. We loved it. And yes. We shall come again but please don’t tell anyone how lovely this is just so we kept this Idyll with the Idylle for us.
