“Hidden gem”

Just wanted to leave a review of this hidden gem as I rely a lot on reviews when choosing somewhere to stay. This is the 2nd time we have stayed here. Its small complex ran by a lovely Greek family. Just wanted to leave a review of this hidden gem as I rely a lot on reviews when choosing somewhere to stay. This is the 2nd time we have stayed here. Its small complex ran by a lovely Greek family. It's a 10 minute walk into the main strip. Plenty of bars and restaurants for every type of night. It's mainly families and couples that visit this resort with no issues with stags and hens. They tend to visit laganas. Be prepared to pay tourist tax and for air conditioning for your stay. We would recommend a visit to crispy catch for food. The crazy golf is worth a visit and there are plenty of trips to try. We visited kefalonia for the day through nefis travel and really enjoyed it. But to go back to the hotel. We would have no issues recommending the smaller family orientated complex. With predominantly English visitors

We stayed at Petros Hotel as a family of five with children aged 11, 7 and 2, and overall had a good stay. The hotel has two main pool areas. The smaller pool by the junior suite rooms was perfect for our 2-year-old as it’s only around 0.5m deep, meaning he could stand up comfortably. There’s also a water splash umbrella/fountain feature for younger children, which reception can switch on if it isn’t already running. Our older children preferred the larger main pool, although there’s also a separate children’s pool near the bar. Music near the bar area, was good for the main pool. Quiet on a night, which is always helpful for getting young kids to sleep! The pool bar served a good selection of food, including pizzas, toasties and burgers, along with plenty of drinks. Prices were a little on the expensive side compared to nearby bars. Our Junior Suite was a great size for a family. It had a large double bed (super king or similar), two single beds and still had enough space for a travel cot. Storage was excellent, with a spacious wardrobe, plenty of shelving and a safe. The room also included a good-sized fridge with a freezer compartment, free Wi-Fi and two TVs, although all the channels were foreign so we didn’t use them. There were two air conditioning units, which worked very well, but these cost extra at check-in (around €100 for seven nights). The Junior Suite block also has a lift, which made getting suitcases and our pushchair to the room much easier. One small inconvenience was that the hotel only provides one key card per room, which can be awkward for families if you want to split up during the day. If you’re travelling with young children, I’d recommend requesting a first-floor Junior Suite. The balcony provides a secure enclosed space and somewhere to dry towels, whereas the ground-floor rooms don’t offer the same benefit. The staff were always friendly, welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Housekeeping visited daily, but the floors didn’t appear to be swept, so sand quickly built up in the room. We only had breakfast twice during our seven-night stay. It seemed that if you didn’t arrive when breakfast first opened, the food wasn’t as fresh or appealing. We’d recommend Sandra’s Bar, just a two-minute walk away, where the English breakfast was excellent and the family-run service was fantastic. One area that could be improved is pool maintenance. It wasn’t always obvious how often the pools were cleaned, as inflatable toys were often left in overnight and the pools looked much the same the following morning. The biggest downside for us was the shower. The drainage is poor, causing water to overflow onto the bathroom floor every time it was used. We had to lay down multiple towels to keep it from flooding the whole bathroom. The hotel is around a 10-minute walk from the main bars and restaurants, with plenty of shops nearby. If you’re using a pushchair, be aware that some pavements disappear, so we found ourselves crossing the road several times. There’s also a good local waterpark within walking distance. Admission was around €22 for adults and €15 for children, with each ticket including a free food voucher (burger, pizza etc.). Entry is half price from 2:30pm, although it does get much busier in the afternoon. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The hotel is ideal for families, particularly those with younger children, thanks to the spacious rooms, good pool options and helpful staff. While there are a few maintenance and breakfast issues that could be improved, we’d still be happy to stay here again.

1, junior suit block has a lift which helps with suitcases and children in a buggy. 2, Nice kids pool, water umbrella feature can be switched on at reception. 3, Good air-con but like others have said expensive €15 a night due to 2 units. 4, Most Greece bathrooms in apartments turn slightly into a wet room, but this hotel was the worst one I have been in. Due to the fact it felt modern but the design was poor, shower basin or door needed. 5, Large pool nice, kids enjoyed both pools. 6, breakfast ok, like most people have put,but coffee in an urn poor. We probably wouldn't come again due to a few factors. We booked this holiday for the kids to enjoy themselves 2,7, 11 which they did. This resort is great for them golf, water park, mini golf, amusement park, beach stays shallow for a long way out. But it does feel a bit like benidorm in Greece, full english made with english ingredients, music bars with acts on, large sports bars, no real soul to the resort, but we new this before we went. Not a criticism of people who like this resort, I can see the attraction. Restaurants were nice we never had a bad meal.
