“Good location and view”

I went to the hotel for a girls trip. The hotel has a beautiful view, and is in a stunning location. George the manager has been very accommodating towards us and has helped us have a good time during our stay in Greece.

I am currently staying at the Matilda and have heard ridiculous comments from other UK guests complaining about the food ( it's too cold, the quality is poor and to top it all it's not what we eat at home!! I have found at every meal sitting that there is always a good choice of options that are served at the correct temperature. To those who wish they were in Benidorm or Tenerife with their egg and chips every day this comment was actually said to me personally, I suggest you carry on going there instead of undermining staff who are providing an excellent service whilst jumping to your ridiculous complaints. RANT OVER the hotel and it's staff are doing all they possibly can to give everybody here a taste of Greece that I especially really appreciate. Do not let others opinions rob you of a great holiday.

⭐⭐⭐☆☆ 3/5 We stayed at the Matilda Hotel in June 2026 for a week-long all-inclusive holiday and to celebrate my 50th birthday. There are some positives. The hotel and our room were clean throughout our stay, and the pool area was also very clean and well maintained. The staff were generally friendly and hardworking, and there was usually no problem finding a sunbed. However, the hotel is beginning to look quite dated in places, particularly the bedrooms. While clean and functional, the rooms would benefit from refurbishment and, in our opinion, the overall standard does not reflect a 4-star hotel. The biggest disappointment was the food. The hot food was consistently only lukewarm or cold, which significantly affected our enjoyment of the all-inclusive package. We raised our concerns during our stay and were aware that other guests had made similar complaints. As a result, we felt we had little choice but to hire a car and eat out on several occasions, adding significant extra expense to our holiday. The hotel’s location may suit those looking for peace and quiet, but it is quite isolated. There are very few shops, restaurants or facilities within walking distance, so if you are unhappy with the food options, alternatives are not easily accessible without transport. While we still enjoyed exploring Zakynthos itself, the issues with the food meant the hotel did not live up to our expectations, particularly as this was a special 50th birthday trip. With improvements to the food temperature, quality and some investment in updating the rooms, the overall experience could be much better. Would I return? Probably not, although I would happily return to Zakynthos.
