We have just returned from here as a family of four and, like many others, I felt quite anxious before arriving after reading some of the mixed reviews. I just want to reassure anyone in the same position that we really didn’t need to worry. While we’ve stayed in true five-star hotels before, and admittedly this didn’t quite meet that level in every small detail, it was still a very enjoyable and relaxing family holiday. We stayed in a sea-view bungalow, which was lovely, if a little on the compact side. The beds were comfortable, the minibar was well stocked, and dressing gowns were provided (a nice touch, even though we didn’t end up using them). The entertainment team were fantastic and really made a difference to our stay. A special mention to Alex, Evelina and Adel, who work incredibly hard to create a fun, welcoming atmosphere. There were plenty of daytime activities to join in with, should you choose, and the evening shows were enjoyable for both adults and children. I’d definitely recommend downloading the Mitsis app before you arrive so you can book the à la carte restaurants in advance, it’s well worth trying them all. If you’re travelling with children, especially fussy eaters, the staff are incredibly accommodating. During our visit to the Asian restaurant, a lovely member of staff called Rena noticed my daughter wasn’t enjoying her meal and kindly arranged for chips to be brought from the main restaurant. It was such a thoughtful gesture and really appreciated. As an early riser, I had no trouble finding sun loungers in the morning and enjoyed some peaceful time with a book. It was a little frustrating to see some guests reserving loungers and not returning for hours, but this didn’t impact our overall experience. There’s also a handy on-site supermarket and shop selling inflatables and beach essentials, which was very convenient. If you fancy a change of scenery, the boat trip to Lindos is well worth it. The boat departs from the beach just outside the hotel and you can pay once on board, so there’s no need to book in advance. We heard from other guests that the coach transfer can take up to 2.5 hours, however we chose to book a private transfer in advance. Our journey took around an hour, which felt much more manageable after travelling. Overall, we had a really lovely stay. The food was good, and we found that mixing things up between the main restaurant, à la carte options and food trucks kept it interesting. Most importantly, we came away having had a great family holiday, so if you’re feeling unsure after reading some reviews, hopefully this helps put your mind at ease.

We are currently still staying at Mitsis Rodos, and unfortunately our experience so far has been very mixed. The positives first: the food and drinks have been excellent throughout our stay. There is a great variety, the quality is consistently good, and this has definitely been the highlight of the holiday. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The rooms are very dated and in need of refurbishment. During our stay, the lock on our door has repeatedly broken, which has been both frustrating and concerning. The shower curtain keeps falling down, and the fridge door is broken, making the room feel poorly maintained. These are not the standards you expect from a hotel advertising itself as 5-star. The biggest disappointment has been the service from some members of staff, particularly in a couple of the bars and, most notably, the ice cream parlour. One member of staff actually swore at our six-year-old child, which was completely unacceptable. On another occasion, the man serving told us to make our own ice cream because he “couldn’t be bothered.” That level of customer service is shocking and has left a very negative impression while we are still here. If this were marketed and priced as a 3-star hotel, some of these issues might be easier to overlook. However, when you are paying 5-star prices, you expect 5-star accommodation, maintenance, and customer service. Sadly, Mitsis Rodos falls well short of those expectations. Overall, the excellent food and drinks cannot make up for the poor room condition and unacceptable service. We are still here, but at this stage we are very disappointed and would not return unless significant improvements are made.
