Unfortunately we soon have to return home from a fantastic 2 weeks at the White Olive. I apologise in advance if this review is a little long however I feel this lovely hotel and it’s hardworking staff deserve an in depth, honest review. On arrival in the early hours of the morning we had a very warm welcome, were escorted to our room, helped with suitcases and provided with a sandwich, fruit and cold water in our room fridge - we couldn’t have asked for more. Our room is stylish with lots and lots of storage, excellent shower and a large balcony. We have a double bed which is the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in abroad. Fresh towels and clean bed linen are provided everyday and the room is always cleaned thoroughly. There is also a small fridge, safe, good hairdryer and tea/coffee facilities - 10/10. The pool is large and clean, there’s also a kids pool. Lots of sunbeds which are comfortable and good quality. As a couple we could have found somewhere to sit at any time of the day although the hotel is getting busier towards the end of our holiday there is still always plenty of sunbeds. Large good quality beach towels are available for a 10 euro refundable deposit so there’s no need to bring your own, you can change these as often as you like at reception. If you’re looking for a hotel with an animation team, nightly disco, kids club etc this hotel probably isn’t for you but we wanted a relaxing break and it’s perfect for that. However there is karaoke on a Monday, live music on a Wednesday and a Greek night on Saturday we felt this struck the right balance for us. There is a lovely relaxing atmosphere at the bar and we met some lovely people which made our holiday really special. The hotel is also only a 5/10 min walk from numerous bars and restaurants in Pefkos and there’s lots of excursions and interesting places nearby to explore if you’d like to get out and about. Drinks were great and free flowing, help yourself to beer, red, white and rose wine, fizzy drinks, fruit juices and coffee at the pool bar and in the restaurant. Cocktails and other drinks were made to order. We enjoyed all of them, a lot!! I saw numerous bad reviews regarding the food here before we arrived. If you’ve got children with you or are picky eater you may have a few problems but otherwise there’s really no need to worry. The pool bar serves sandwiches,fruit, ice cream and several hot options each day which rotate through things like hot dogs, burgers, pizza, chips, potato croquettes alongside a salad bar. This is available from 10am to 6pm. The restaurant is absolutely immaculate, every piece of cutlery, glasses plates etc were sparkling - this does not go unnoticed. Breakfast is a usual hotel offering with cereal, toast, jam, fruit, yoghurt, pastries, pancakes, omelettes and hot options literally everything you could ask for. Lunch and dinner had variety and the food was always fresh and tasty. There was always soup which was delicious, bread, a salad bar, cheeses, cold meats, tzatziki and numbeous hot options which included lots of traditional Greek dishes. My husband really enjoyed the bbq ribs and wings and the gyros. I eat mostly vegetarian and there was always plenty to choose from - stuffed peppers and tomatoes, dolmades, giant beans and Greek potatoes. There was always pasta with sauce and lots of vegetables such as sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower and asparagus. There’s also small cakes, ice cream, jelly, mousse etc for dessert. If you or your little ones need chips, pizza, chicken nuggets etc these aren’t available in the restaurant but are at the pool bar. A few tips we would recommend: Bring coffee/tea from home for your room to top up as there’s a kettle. Firestick for the TV. Extension lead if you’ve lots of stuff to charge. Try the cherry and sun cocktail it’s like a long tequilla rose - addictive!! The breakfast hash browns are yummy be sure to try those. There’s quite a few steps so if you’ve got mobility issues you may struggle. Finally, every member of staff we have met at the hotel are an absolute credit to it, helpful, friendly, polite and professional. We had a couple of minor issues with the air con and safe which were dealt with in literally minutes. The staff work tirelessly and we would like to sincerely thank each and every one of you for a wonderful holiday, we would definitely return in the future.
