I had a wonderful stay at the Evita Mare while in Rhodes on business. I'm not sure why the hotel has such bad reviews but I had a very good time. Food was great, it' not gourmet but everything was tasty along with the wonderful sweets. Room was big enough, comfortable bed and wonderful pillows. Pool was great to use and gave me quality time and the hotel was right across from Faliraki beach!!! Staff were wonderful and always ensured I had everything I needed!! I'm not sure what all these other reviewers are talking about but I would avoid the past reviews as everyone there was quite happy while I was staying there!! I would highly recommend without hesitation!!!

We arrived at the Evita Bay last Saturday. I had read that they overbooked the hotel often. This happened to us and we were placed in a room completely off the complex. It looked like a converted shop on a derelict street. We were really disappointed and complained that night. We were advised we would need to wait for the manager the next day. We stayed overnight and spoke to the manager the next day. He apologised and couldn’t do enough. He offered us the option to move to the Evita Mare with swim up pool for one of the rooms. He left us to review it ourselves and let him know. There were a lot of negative reviews from last year and only a couple from this year. I was really sceptical to live but we did. It was the best decision as the hotel Mare was really welcoming, exceptionally clean, friendly staff and great pools. Food was standard all inclusive and what I’d expect, not always pipping hot. Drinks were avaliable all day and a great choice. The manager at the Evita Bay advised we could use both hotels. We return tomorrow and they are paying for taxi back to the Evita Bay as our pick up is from there. Couldn’t ask enough from everyone. We were happy to move but understand not everyone would be.

“Wonderful Location”

We spent six days at Evita Mare. Our cousin booked this all-inclusive vacation for us through her travel agent in Slovakia. We flew to Slovakia, spent a few days and then flew to Greece from Bratislava Airport. Due to a flight delay, we didn't arrive at Evita Mare until about 1:30 am. The check in process was very involved and took at least 30 minutes. We were all starving, luckily the hotel left a box lunch for us in the fridge along with a bottle of water. We went to bed soon after. There are definite Pros and Cons with this hotel. Let's starts with the PROS: *This was probably the best AC system I've ever had in a hotel. It operated with a remote and worked very well. *Very comfortable bed *We had a room with a slider that led to a private patio and a shared pool. It was very nice, had two sun loungers, a round table and 2 chairs. *The bar area was very nice and the drinks were good. They had a nice selection of mixed tropical drinks that you could choose from, as well as beer, wine and soda. Bartenders were very nice. *If you've done some research on Greece, you may have heard about some areas with outdated plumbing that require you to "not flush" toilet paper. Well, this resort didn't have that problem. Plumbing was excellent! *The pools are so clean, very nice and I like that they allowed kids to bring floats into the pool. *In the restaurant, they have a nice automatic coffee machine where you can get everything you could ever want as far as coffee. They also had a very nice tea selection, sodas, juice and water. *Fresh fruit in the dining room was pretty good, particularly the oranges, which I ate every day. *Dining Room desserts were always exceptional. I learned that they are prepared at another larger Evita hotel with an inhouse bakery. *Outdoor dining is very nice, particularly the upper deck, just be careful in the morning, the sun can be brutal. But the evening out there is just wonderful. *The hotel had some updates going on during our time there. They had workman installing tile in the reception area near the stairs leading to the dining room. It really didn't impact us much at all. They also had new lobby furniture delivered during our stay. I also noticed that the landscaping has been enhanced as compared to the pictures of the resort that I saw online. *This resort is a mere 5-minute walk to the beach, it was amazing! And there were so many restaurants, cafes, bars all along the beach. It's nice to just walk along any time of day, but the late afternoon is glorious. *The walk to the town center of Faliraki is also very short, maybe 8-10 minutes. There's everything you could want. A lot of stores, bars, restaurants. There is also a small store right next to the Evita Mare. I loved this store. They had some really nice souvenirs and everything in there was more reasonably priced than on the main street in town. As for the CONS: *I'm sorry to say I have to start with the food. After about 2 days, I really started to feel sick. I found the seasoning of the food to be inconsistent. A lot of things were either tasteless or overloaded with salt & many things seemed overcooked. It was hard to determine what the food was until about the 2nd or 3rd day when they started putting little identification cards on the shelf above the buffet. I agree with other reviewers who said the food was often cold. Unless you get there exactly when they open, the food just gets cold. Most days they had a pasta and sauce, which was good. Also, for the kids, at various times they had chicken nuggets, fish sticks, hot dogs, pizza, hamburgers and French fries. The French fries are fantastic! Grab 'em while you can because they disappear quickly! For the most part, I just had toast with butter in the morning and an orange. And for the other meals, I was just cautious and would usually stick with pasta. Of course, the olives and Feta cheese were fantastic! *I agree with other reviews that said the bathroom was a problem. No door or curtain on the shower made the bathroom a mess. I dreaded showering. Also, there is no storage in the bathroom at all, so you have to carry your stuff back and forth from the bedroom. There is also no exhaust fan in the bathroom, just a small window you can open with no screen; the mosquitoes love this window! My suggestion is close it as soon as you enter the room and just run the AC. *The bedroom is very baren. A very plain bed, an open wardrobe for storage and a table. There is also a fridge in every room. There is a TV and I think one station that had English. However, there are Music channels. One of them is called Zeppelin and it was fantastic! I had that station on all the time; the music was so good. A lot of classic rock and some songs I haven't heard in years. *When you check in, you will get an actual KEY, not a key card. Attached to that key is a white card, the size of a credit card but a lot thicker. That white card is how you get electricity in the room. There's a slot that you put it in when you open your door and then you can put all the lights and AC on. I decided right away that I didn't want the room heating up all day, so I removed the white card and just left it in the slot. I saw that other guests had done the same thing. All in all, I was very glad to have taken this trip. We were on the island of Rhodes and the scenery was beautiful. I liked the location of the resort and the convenience of being near to the beach and the town. Also, we visited the Rhodes Old Town, which was the highlight of my trip. It is a medieval city and just so beautiful. There's a lot of shopping, restaurants and bars. But I loved the little "streets" which are the size of alley ways. Many of the walking areas are a "cobblestone" that I think is unique to Greece. The stones are polished oblong round stones, mostly in gray and white. Wear good shoes when visiting Old Town. This isn't the place for high heels! One last tip, for the best price and I think best weather, try to go at the end of May and beginning of June. Our price was great and I thought the weather was terrific, not too hot and just a little breezy at night.
