We stayed for 10nights it was lovely. especially the grounds and the friendly staff. Each room has its own cooking equipped including a fridge, which we used every day. The rooms are basic, but very comfortable. There is a good selection of wildlife to watch. The only let down is the restaurant, but there are plenty of good places to eat near by. We will be going back.

We very much loved our time at Habitation Grande Anse. My husband and I had a room, and our two adult children and their spouses had their own rooms. Each room has an outdoor kitchen. We brought our own cutting knife, as we had read that the kinves provided were not that sharp. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms had very good showers and had recently been renovated. The staff at the reception were very helpful. Sina is a scuba diver, and she was very helpful recommending scuba diving and snorkelilng spots for us. Sandy, Margot and Romain at reception were also very helpful and all were kind. We loved the swimming pool, it had shaded chaise longues and I think it is about 10 meters in length. I cannot say enough at how beautiful the location was , with the lush gardens and the mountainous landscape. The beach of your dreams, Grand Anse, was only a 15 minute walk away., and the waves some days large other days safely small. You could buy pizza at a food truck on the way to the beach at the gas station and it was delicious. If you want to buy groceries, you would need to go to a neighbouring town about 10 minutes drive away. The restaurant at the hotel, Papillon, serves a good sized breakfast buffet style that includes eggs, bacon, sausage, crepes, croissant, pain au chocolat, hearty breads, yogourt, pineapple, kiwi, melon and local jams. Plus various cheeses and meats and cold cereals and coffee/tea/fresh local juices. You will not go hungry, and I think the price of 18 Euros is fair. The restaurant at supper time is expensive, but you could order a salad and a main dish to share at about 25 Euros each. I felt safe walking on the street, was bothered only once by a beggar at a town 20 minutes away. I felt more safe then I do at home in Canada as I did not see a homeless issue where we were, although as tourist here for 10 days, I was sheltered from reality. The roads were in good condition, but beware of driving at night as there could be drunk drivers and some of the ditches are made of asphalt and are steep. Renting a car is best for a confident driver, as the roads wind around mountains You could also take taxis, or try the bus ( you may have to wait a while). Attractions close by are the pretty tourist town of Deshais, and the Botanical Gardens near Deshais. You could take a taxi to Deshais for 20 Euros, one way. We loved our time at HGA, a big thank you to the staff for making our stay so pleasant.

I would recommend the latter there is plenty of choice The rooms have a beautifully equipped kitchenette. But don’t miss the opportunity to have a pre booked Dinner. The food is amazing and as you would expect from a French Restaurant My thanks go to Zena. Roman, Margo and Sandrine a lovely calm and welcoming team who befit the personal style of resort Also to Lionel their amazing Taxi Driver who added so much to the memory of my trip

“Pleasant hotel on the outskirts of Deshaies.”
