I stayed at the Kaamala Resort & Spa for a 7 nights for a holiday. I booked via Luxury Escapes, so was fortunate to have lots of inclusions for our staff. The stand-out positive of the stay were the staff. I am an experienced traveller and I can honestly say I have never experienced more helpful, friendly and accomodating staff throughout the resort. They are excellent! The resort itself is well kept and maintained. The resort is currently relatively small, so it feels very personal and quiet. They do have building work going on next door to expand the resort but in all-honesty, during our stay, we didn’t really see or hear anything. We stayed in Room 809, which was a villa with a private pool, overlooking the rice fields. The room was beautiful, with a peaceful view. There was a couple of negatives with the room, which didn’t affect our stay, but could do with improvement. I think our room was the only one which hasn’t been renovated, as all the others had new front doors etc. and some had active work on-going whilst we were there. Those being, the front door was old and needed replacing. There was a cabinet in the outside kitchen which was hanging at a slant. And pool water leaked into the bedroom from the patio area as there was no slant. The locality was great. It was about a 10 minute walk to the Monkey Forest and about a 15 to 30 minute walk into the centre of Ubud, depending on your destination, but the hotel do offer a free shuttle service if you don’t fancy the walk. The food and restaurants were great. The spa was great. Everything was pretty great. I’d definitely recommend The Kaamala Resort & Spa following my experience and I’d certainly return in the future.

Building work next door ongoing so does spoil things. Where the work is getting done that side of infinity pool looks totally neglected. Building work next door ongoing so does spoil things. Where the work is getting done that side of infinity pool looks totally neglected. Mostly the Pool although beautiful has the most filthy cushions and sun loungers, could not understand this, these need replacing. . Had to go to the bar to order drinks from pool and staff very slow to clean glasses from side of pool. Staff however were extremely friendly and the food in restaurant was very good. Pool very quiet initially however the beautiful view was soon ruined by the instagram crowd so we were quick to leave.

I want to start by saying that the staff at Kaamala Resort are truly one of its strongest assets. They are exceptionally kind, attentive, and genuinely go out of their way to assist guests. When I raised my concern about the construction noise, they even provided a complimentary transfer as a gesture of goodwill, which I appreciated. It’s very clear that the staff are doing their best, and none of this reflects on their level of care or professionalism. That said, I stayed here in 2022 and had a wonderful experience, which is why my return visit in 2025 was disappointing. There was major construction taking place on the property, and while construction is understandable in Bali, what is unacceptable is that the loud hammering and heavy machinery continued until close to 9:00 PM. This significantly affected the relaxation and resort experience. While the team tried to help when I called, the core issue lies with ownership or top management, who should not allow such disruptive work to continue so late into the evening. The constant noise made it difficult to enjoy the hotel, and I found myself avoiding staying on the property as much as possible during my two-night stay, which defeats the purpose of booking a resort. Unfortunately, the food was also below expectations. The breakfast was quite bland and not worth adding to the stay. The on-site Japanese restaurant was another disappointment overpriced and low quality. For one person with no alcohol, the bill came to $54 USD, and the meal was mediocre at best, one of the weakest Japanese dining experiences I’ve had. Overall, it feels like the resort is prioritizing expansion over guest comfort and quality. While the staff remain wonderful and genuinely caring, management needs to seriously reconsider allowing disruptive construction during guest hours, as it can negatively affect what should be a peaceful and restorative stay. I hope future guests will have a better experience once these issues are addressed.
