This place is located in a very nice spot, although the isand of Bunaken is wonderful in general. We stayed in the big room (deluxe), and it was super comfortable and had great views from the private terrace. The bed was huge and comfortable, which we looked for after a full night and day to arrive to Bunaken. The AC is great too, although you need to have in mind electricity is off in some moments of the day, so if you stay in the room during midday, it gets quite hot. Running hot water to shower also depends on electricity. They serve three meals a day. Regarding breakfast, if you ask you can choose between having pancakes, sandwich or egg-based dish. I have to say the meals were wonderfully cooked, and against of what I read in other reviews, they vary from day to day (obviously rice is omnipresent): fish, pork, beef, vegetables, eggs... cold water, tea and coffee are free and available at any moment. They let you use snorkel material for free. They can also arrange motorbike renting, and have bikes available. The main village of the island is very close, 15' walking and 5' in bike/motorbike. Staff mantain the space clean all the time and are very nice people. This place don't have a proper beach to sunbathing if that is what you look for, but if you are interested in snorkelling, they have a great direct access to the reef from their beach. You have to be wary of the tides though, because when they get low, access from the beach can be tricky. Right in front of the stay, you will be able to see infinite species of fishes, and we even spotted a couple of turtles!! Amazing! I didn't used the shuttle service to airport because it's a bit expensive, I arranged my transfer to Manado airport with some local guy and price was better thant the offered from the hotel. If you don't mind much about comfort, you can reach and leave Bunaken by public boat too (except on Sundays). Overall, recommended place with good price in comparison with other stays here in Bunaken.

“caring staff & nice bungalows”

I was the only guest staying here in July, which is a shame because the staff is extremely caring and friendly. They are willing to help you with anything. The food was great and the bungalows were clean and tidy.

We arrived at Jonaths Cottage Bunaken at about 3 P.M. We were looking around to find the receptionist because it was so silent. A house keeper came approaching us tell us to wait while he is waiting of his friend. While he was making our room we were waiting for his friend, after few minutes waiting, his friend came and he asked our booking paper. I was surprised when he said that they provide breakfast, lunch and dinner FREE while when we booked the room on Traveloka, it said that it didn't include breakfast. We enter our room after waiting for about 1 hour to have our room ready. The surrounding was so quiet, we were the only guests. The cottage and floor were made of wood. It's dark and a little bit hot in the day time because the electric was off. It's ON only few hours before dark. The water is salty. So I couldn't sleep well at night because I felt sticky on my body. We always had the same breakfast: 1 toast each person, tea and coffee is available im any time. We always had the same lunch: rice with fish, vegetable and fries. We alwayd had the same dinner: rice with chicken, noodle and vegetables. For your information: we booked the standar room with terace and beachfront. Yeah our room exactly by the beach, unfortunately the beach is full of trees so that we can't swim. I went diving through another resort because Jonaths doesn't facilitate it. Note: If you like walking, you don't need to book a room in advance. It's better you just show up and compare one resort to the others then start to bargain 😁😁 but it takes time because there is no public transport in this island, no car either. Trust me there are many rooms available for you to choose.
