“Excellent hotel for the price. Very helpful staff”

Stayed in this hotel in November. Room was on ground floor near to pool. Price was excellent £19 per night including breakfast. WiFi was good but air con could have been a bit stronger. Stayed in this hotel in November. Room was on ground floor near to pool. Price was excellent £19 per night including breakfast. WiFi was good but air con could have been a bit stronger. Staff so helpful and polite , better than some more expensive hotels I’ve stayed in. A lot of school parties stay but I didn’t hear any noise. Food in restaurant was good . Not far from restaurant and bar area, quite a walk to Palaces and Main Street but taxis and other transport cheap., about half hour walk. I would thoroughly recommend this place.

Our stay at the Grand Palace was very positive. The location was great; it was only a 30 min drive from the airport, there was a large supermarket within walking distance, and there were many fun restaurants nearby. If you get off the main roads there are nice little neighborhoods to walk through if you enjoy a more local feel. We very much enjoyed the free breakfast every morning. They had a wide variety of foods ranging from local Indonesian food to many European choices (and even an omelet bar). The garden area surrounding the pool was very tranquil and a lovely place to sit and read. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful our entire stay. We ordered room service a few times because their food was so delicious and cheap. The rooms were also very nice although the shower temperature did not get hot enough for our preferences. However if it is a hot day the lukewarm water may not be an issue for you. Overall we would highly recommend the Grand Palace to other families.

The hotel lives up to its name of being Grand. To be honest, I was never that excited about staying here in the first place. But everything changed when ewe are welcomed into a soaring Colonial front porch with imposing columns through to the beautiful second story. Hereon, we are excited to see more of its interior. We were further greet to a beautiful courtyard garden where a small swimming pool is. It is here where our breafast are served. We were led to flight of stairs adorning the elegance vine detail with flowered centers stair railings. Our room is quite spacious, sharing comon terrace overlooking a swimming pool. However, the bedsheet and pillow cases were old, does not look clean. I would suggest a bright, freshly laundered white sheets look cleaner compared to these grayish set. Even worse, towels are also old, white doesnt looking white. Sad to say, other than the garden courtyard, most of the areas are not well maintained. If you are looking for a mid-range hotel in an area a stone throw away from Malioboro, this property is really worth the money. However, despite of plus and minus, we had a comfortable and memorable stay.
