Astounding respect!!! Only niggles, not enough space in the complimentary ‘fancy restaurants’ so missed out. However. Food offerings in main restaurant amazing with live cooking stations! One week ample for visit. If coming for two you will likely need to book activities. Family of 4 with 13yo and 7yo. Amazing experience and will take some beating!! Already looking at booking next year and haven’t left yet!! Staff go above and beyond! To see Italian holiday makers shows it’s a great place. Special shout out to the gardeners. The place is immaculate and as they say. You get what you pay for!! 5 stars from us. (Local market was average but plenty of souvenirs, better options available but 40^ heat left us wanting minimal. ) Credit to entertainment staff, restaurant and cleaners. Cannot fault at all!! Thinking about visiting? Do it!!

The Tui magic calabria (Adult private lodge) Positives - Large gated hotel.. Beautiful flowers and greenery all around. Kept immaculate in all areas. Lovely big swimming pool... Lots of sunbeds. Huge variety of good food, pasta, pizza, meat and salads and lots of fish dishes. I always found something to eat even though I'm not keen on fish. The Italian staff were always polite and hard working.. The cleaners did an amazing job. The private lodge rooms were nice with tea and coffee making facilties... Fridge, dressing gown and slippers Went into pizzo on the shuttle bus. lovely little Italian village with lots of cafes and eateries...was suppose to stay for three hours but found after walking around for a couple the heat was too much and caught a taxi back to the hotel. From what I could see the kids there were having a great time, they had an ice cream shop and a little drinks machine of their own, children's disco and 'my mo' The main area was very lively sometimes it was difficult to get a table there and so usually went back to the private lodge bar. The hotel has a small animal rescue area which was looking after several cats which I thought was lovely. Had to see the doctor the first week... This cost was 50 euros and 20 for the prescription, which I thought was quite reasonable. If your sporty there is lots do here, but due to health issues I wasn't able to take part in anything. Negatives-The adult entertainment wasn't the best, the private Lodge sometimes had music but could not find any information on what was on and when. I didn't like the fact that some people smoked on their sunbeds without any though for anyone else... The hotel needs to address this with some signs up at least. There is a small expensive shop.. It sells everything from mars bars to designer clothes and jewellery. An inflatable lilo will cost about 25 euros...in hindsight I should of bought one in the UK from Amazon. The beach is about a 10 of minute walk through the woods...it has a large bank of stones that you have to navigate to get into the water and out again... I found this very difficult and had to get my husband to help me. Tried to do a late check out on the last day and was told no as the hotel was full, so ended up checking out of our room at 12 and putting clothes in our rucksacks so we could get changed out of our wet stuff as we were still allowed to still use the facilties... We weren't getting picked up until 8 o'clock that night so it wasnt ideal. To make things worse our Ryanair air flight (booked by Tui) was dalayed by two hours which made the last day a bit of a long one. I'm not sure that this is the right hotel for an unfit older adult as myself, but seemed great for families.

We’ve just got back from a week in Calabria (family of 3, daughter 4 going on 14!). This was our second TUI magic life experience after really enjoying the resort in Fuerteventura last summer. We actively sought out another version and I would say Calabria is a slight upgrade overall but with different pros and cons. It was hot, at times uncomfortably hot. Everyone was sweating whilst outside in the evenings. It’s tricky because the sun was gorgeous during the day, the pools and sea were the warmest we’ve had and you could spend all day in them, and lots of people did. But there isn’t anyway to escape it in the evening. The magico restaurant is cool inside but lots of people chose, or had to eat outside each night. That can’t have been enjoyable. The massive covered but outdoor theatre was hard to sit in for shows. The two additional speciality restaurants were based around outdoor dining. We stuck it out on the beach for our meal but we spoke to others who cancelled on the day, or left the Trattoria restaurant early. Luckily the magico once inside is absolutely fine. We went left towards the kids dining area each night, always loads of space and our daughter loved sitting around the table with her new friends each time whilst we sat a couple of metres away. Much more utilised overall than Fuerteventura. The specialty sections were great with mini kebabs, pulled pork wraps, mussels on rotation as examples. Fresh pasta and pizza as you can imagine each sitting and plenty of variety. The cocktails were actually made here as opposed to being from a machine. Each night sundowner options were also made outside. So a plus on the AI drink front. Kids club was excellent, we used it 4 times across the week for morning or evening (Emma was our daughters favourite), plus some dinning with Mymo options too. Mymo and the whole theme of Magic life is the real key here for families. We loved the discos last year and these were just as good. Kids absolutely love Mymo and the catchy final song. TUI have absolutely nailed it here. For active people the mountain and road biking scene is excellent. The afternoon rides are very comfortable but the morning ones will test you. I took the twin kayaks out twice as well, Including once with my daughter. Be aware the SUP is €20 and probably not worth it when kayak is free. The beach overall is stony but good, loads of beds and nice waves. Archery in the woods with the outdoor gym section is also a magic life staple but done well here. A little negative that the beds are a little uncomfortable and the aircon is ok, not amazing, but the cleaners and ground staff are amazing. Constantly on it in what must be really uncomfortable heat. You’ll do well to find an area of the grounds not being looked after constantly. Finally, what a great water park for young children. 5 rides plus a separate wet zone for younger ones. Hours of fun here and as a result we didn’t witness any issues with sunbeds. We spent time between there and the ‘relaxation’ pool which is more like a family pool, with sparing dips into the main pool next door. Overall, an excellent week. Yes it was too hot in the evenings, yes there isn’t much around, but you can enjoy a couple of hours in Pizzo nearby (also too hot!), and there’s so much to do that you don’t really need to leave if only there for a week. We met many people on repeat visits and I can see why.

We have just returned from our 4th visit to this resort and there is a reason we keep going back. Here are the positives: Location - flight is quite quick from Gatwick and the transfer is about 20 mins so you are at the resort, cold beer in hand by lunch time. Calabria is a very pretty part of Italy and Pizzo is worth a visit with traditional winding streets and stunning views. Atmosphere - there is a great mixture of buzzing, fun areas and quieter chill out areas. The main pool has music playing and lots of activities with a bar. The splash park is very noisy with lots of excited kids having fun! The family pool is a little more relaxed and is usually pretty empty first thing and after lunch. The beach has day beds you can hire which I would thoroughly recommend for a bit of privacy and space. There is always something going on with a great mixture of fun and relaxation. Rooms - we had a family room which works well for us as we have two kids who we would not want to share a room with! There is plenty of wardrobe space and room to put luggage etc. We had a lovely terrace outside with room to hang wet clothes. It was super quiet - we were in Block 1 room 2022 and we could not hear any of the evening activities going on once we'd gone to bed. Food - the food is yummy. We were there for two weeks and we did not get bored of the choice. They mix it up a bit each night with lots of fresh fish and meat. Always a good vegan choice too. They obviously have pizza and pasta every day but with different toppings. There is a new cafe which wasn't there when we last visited where you can get snacks in the afternooon and ice cream after lunch and supper. I'd recommend treating yourself to a Tartufo ice cream from the premium bar menu one night - delicious! Drinks - the bar is well stocked with lots of choice. They had speciality cocktails every night and a nice selection for the kids. Kids Club - my 5 year old absolutely loved the kids club and fell in love with the girls who run it especially Emma. They had lots of different activities and spoke very good English. Mymo was also a huge hit and we had to buy a toy from the shop to bring home. The kids disco every night was fun too - my son was at the front boogying away and we now all have the songs stuck in our heads. Staff - everyone we came across were super helpful and friendly and spoke very good English despite our efforts to speak bad Italian! Cleanliness - the room was cleaned every day and the grounds were always being wiped, mopped or swept at some point. There were people constantly going around picking up cups and litter and the maintenance/garden guys were continuously chopping, pruning. clearing up leaves etc. Sports - we took part in football every night and my son used the gym. I tried wine yoga which was hilarious - I would definitely recommend it for a giggle! I also did legs bums and tums which almost killed me. My sister went on a bike ride which she enjoyed. Beach - the beach is about a 10 min walk from the main resort but don't let this put you off as it is a beautiful walk through the forest. There are lots of things to look at or do along the way and you can chill out in a hammock if you need a rest! It is a stony beach so not great for playing in sand and the drop in to the sea can be quite steep and it gets deep quite quickly. But the water is crystal clear and so warm. The restaurant by the beach is smaller so less choice but has nicer pizza's in my opinion! Negatives: The beds are HARD and uncomfortable. They always have been so I knew to brace myself for them. I fold up a spare duvet and put it under the sheet to make it a bit more comfortable. The pillows are lumpy. We asked for different ones and these were still lumpy. I didn't sleep particularly well the whole two weeks. My mum's room was in Block 5 which feels a bit like a prison block! She was in room 5136 and her air con did not work. She told guest services 5 time and had numerous people sent out but it didn't change at all. She also had a nasty "italian plumbing" smell in her bathroom every night. Once she returned to her room at lunch time and her room stank of gas as they were filling up gas canisters outside. So if you get room 5136 ask to swap! Lifeguards - they can be sporadic. I would not rely on them to save your child's life. They can be very easily distracted by pretty female swimmers - I watched one chat to some ladies in the family pool for a good 30 mins without paying any attention to what was going on in the pool! All in all we had a fabulous two weeks and will definitely try to come back one day - our son will be desperate to go back to kids club!
